It's the same price as a stubber, has 60% of the shots, shorter range and one less AP value, still meaning it barely passes for definitive. What's good about a storm bolter on a guard tank?

The only reason I can think is for weapon destroyed results.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

His point is that the stubber is basically always better for the same cost. There's no reason, unless you have models from 3rd edition that have a storm bolter but no stubber, and you have no extra stubbers to convert them.

I remember someone mentioned that the older Guard tank models had storm bolters on them, and that its mainly for the people who use them.

The strange part is that the two do identical damage to GEq, the Ap5 doing as much as the extra shot.

I'd say that they look cooler, but...

You lost/already used your Stubber bit would be the only reason nowadays I can think of.

If there were weapon-specific buffs, like SM armies get, Storm Bolters might be of use.

This is almost why I have storm bolters on a couple of tanks. They've been on there since 3rd and I just don't care enough to go to the effort of replacing them.
