Let's say I have a list with:
SM Primary
Inq Detachment
Firebase Formation
SM is BB to Tau
Inquisition is DA to Tau
1. If my Inquisitor is attached to a Marine unit, and that unit is within 6" of a Tau unit, do I need to roll for One Eye Open?
2. If my Inquisitor is attached to a Marine unit, and the Inquisitor model is within 6" of a Tau unit, do I need to roll for One Eye Open?
After perusing the Allies section of the BRB, my answer is No to both questions. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

No to both, as the inquisitor is not a Inq unit while within the marine unit

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures. |

I don't see this phrase on p112, or in the BRBFAQ. Could you point it out to me?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
