So, we have yet another thread devolve into Zweischneid's bizzaro world view of 40k vs. the rest of the gaming world. The guy is a textbook troll, don't engage him. This is a game to him. Let him tire himself out.

Good day.

Still waiting for the answer to this too.

I've answered several times. If you don't like the answer, what shall I do?

No you have not. You continually shift the goalposts and dodge actually answering questions by spewing out meaningless rhetoric. I've never met anyone that writes so much and says so little.

I'm getting a massive sense of deja vu. This thread will get to the same size as the other one and your tangled web will collapse around you just like before.

Which is why I don't want to repeat my answer again to you repeating the same question over and over again. I've answered it. You disgree with what I said, resorting as usual to insults instead of actual argument that would show how my responses would be flawed.

No, you, much like a politician, answered the question you wanted to, not the one asked. You won't be repeating anything, as you haven't answered the actual question yet.

Don't make me go full Paxman.

Cheers me dears. *tags in Azreal*

Epic butcher. Read his fluff. Read his rules. Play him on the table top. He is a perfect tabletop incarnation of his own fluff. Every aspect is bailed down and represented brilliantly. Look at the model. Friend and foe, butchered at his feet. Perfect, considering all his attacks are indiscriminate. Look at his arcane dementia rule - his arcane ability ebbs and flows, he is incredibly unstable - represented perfectly. Look at his spells - they perfectly capture his inner rage and anger and desire, no, need to close with the enemy. Look at his special rules - homicidal maniac. Look at his feat - perfectly designed to represent his rage literally boiling over and infecting his whole army. Look at the rules where his rage infects and spills over into his warjacks. They're angrier and more aggressive than warjacks controlled by any other caster.

Sounds like a fun guy.

I'll take 5 of him for a little "Butcher's guild" type-list. They could be his brothers. Or a cloning-experiement gone wrong.

Not keen on the Warjacks themselves. Gonna leave those out though.

We could play a scenario on a really small strip of table representing narrow alleys between butcher-shops, kinda like the Oldboy Hallway fight, but in the steampunk-fantasy version. Perhaps with some Zombicide zombies swarming about attacking everyone for extra mayhem.

I'll pitch it the next time I see a Warmachine player. If they take me up on it, I'll happily start looing into Warmachine more heavily.

LOLWUT?

No, they'll just look at you with a confused look as you quite clearly don't know what you're talking about.

We play RAW.

Well, try playing 40K instead.

You play a game using its rules? Or are you just pointlessly obfuscating again?

I'll go with the latter.

I've literally never met anyone that plays with unequal points values.

Still not answered the question I see Zwei!

How is a Penitent Engine being objectively poor in game good for the game as a whole?

I've answered it several times.

Not really, but I surmised your answer above. You claim we aren't even playing the game.

You are certainly playing your game.

The odd thing is... it's not the game the game designers propose, nor do you appear to be having fun, and yet you are blaming the Game Designers for the fact that you're not having fun.

But no, that wasn't related to the Pentinent Engine, or at best very, very, very broadly.

As I said in the other thread, who are you to tell ten of thousands of gamers they're playing the game incorrectly? There is a massive disconnect from the reality of how the game is played in the studio. The vast majority of gamers do not play the game how you (or even the game designers themselves) are suggesting. Most people will play 1500 to 2000pts in a pickup game at their FLGS or gaming club.

But, I'll get the same reply I got yesterday. Then you'll have that be refuted by several other people. See? Deja vu. It's like I'm psychic or something.

Of course you can. You can also use a point system to create balance.

Sure. A point system can be used to create both balance and imbalance.

If that is true, logic would seem to indicate that the mere existence of a point system does not inform us as to which purpose it serves in a given game.

Correct?

....aaaaaannnnnddddd you twist that statement to your will. You are in the wrong job. You would make a fine politician.

I can remember GW used to add in extra stuff via FAQs/Errata.

In the FAQ for the Warhammer Dark Elf Army book from 2 books ago GW:

1) Gave Black Guard their Eternal Hatred rule (Hatred against everything in all rounds of combat)

2) Increased the Leadership of Cold One Knights to 9

3) Increased the amount of chariots you could take as a single Special choice

4) Increased the Cauldron of Bloods range

5) Allowed Assassin's to deploy as scouts

6) Made Hydra apprentices movement match that of the Hydra

7) Added wargear options for the Beastmaster

8) Gave Executioners heavy armour so they were more worth their points and matched the model

9) Points decrease on Warriors

10) Some rule clarifications such as stating that Wicth Elves kept Hatred despite being immune to psychology etc.

And they did all this by working with members of Druchii.net to test ideas and find out what members of the community felt wasn't working or needed clarification.

Such a different time...

Make sure you're sitting down for this....

But those changes were made in conjunction with Druchii.net. Yes, GW co-operating with the internet in how to fix an army book. This really happened.

EDIT: I see you put that in the OP... Got ahead of myself.

How did that work out? Did people accept and use the updated rules? Were they easy to remember? Did they know they existed? One of the major difficulties I imagine would occur with changing rules would be remembering changes to other people's armies, since there are so many and knowing what your opponent's stuff does is so important too. But maybe it's not a significant burden, especially compared to the problems it's trying to solve.

GW eventually updated the army book (you could tell them apart as the updated one had a red border around the cover.) and these changes were quite pubic as they were also published in White Dwarf. This was done around 12-13 years ago when WD still meant something.

You say that but there is far more threads whining about balance in WoW, whining about blizzard as a money grabbing company, whine whine whine than there is about 40k, Check any of the facebook post comments, mmochap, official forums....

No matter how open Blizzard are about there product, how many public forums of conversation is provided, no matter how many adjustments, no matter how hard they work on upgrades they still invite a crap ton of hate.

Morton's fork.

Regardless of the quality of their product, at least they have an official forum and attempt to reach out to an unpleasable fanbase, unlike a certain other company we all talk about on here...

Even EA, Satan incarnate as far as companies go in some people's opinion have an official forum.
