Does anyone know of a good alternative company for wood elves? I love the new stuff and the dryads but I am looking for better archers and infantry than GW has currently.

I find the current plastic kit quite okay. And there are surprisingly few alternatives.
One is old metal GW Wood Elves, esp. the Skarloc Archers and other really early stuff by Jes Goodwin.
You can also browse Hordes, esp. Ouroboros, but not only:
Alternative eagles are by Gamezone Miniatures and GW's Hobbit range.
Other than that mostly single heroes, e.g. Reaper, Raging Heroes (Treekin), AoW , and some treemen.
Greebo made a nice female Woodelf team suitable for conversions:
Here some more Bloodbowl Woodelf miniatures:

Has anyone owned these by reaper?
Saproling Warriors
Wondering if they are a good alternative to Treekin.

That's a 25mm base, so they are tiny.
Raging Heroes has these ... for 38.95€:

The LOTR Mirkwood Elves look nice but are painfully expensive and they're not hero scale, so they'll look odd if you rank them up next to Fantasy Elf models. Shouldn't be a problem if you just have a regiment of them by themselves.

I really like GW Lords & Heroes but it is nice to start seeing alternatives. GW has some horrible WE sculpts and some awesome sculpts. Looks like I will be doing mostly GW with a mix of Mierce Miniatures and Raging Heroes.
I appreciate all the input from you guys. If I can return the favor just ask!

Does anyone know the size of OÁCYNING, LORD OF THE OAK-ENTA? Wondering if he would be more a treant or a treeman.

Actually the current High Elf dragon is a close copy of the old Forest Dragon:
That said, most dragon will do, if used with a wood elf rider.
You can also go for stranger ideas like giant eagles, owls or this FW thing:

Eeek! I went to the store for some glade guard (for dungeon crawling oddly enough) that I'd been vascillating on and a box of 16 went from $35 to $55 over two weeks of me procrastinating? Ouch! Ouch I say!
:(
I think I'll just paint my old LOTR (human but cloaked) rangers in earthy colors and maybe do a weapon swap or two and buy a hero to set them off. Mayeb I can fill them out with a reaper bones or two.
A 50+ percent price increase for the same box? With Wood Elves? Yeesh.

Ah, so THAT's what happened. I was just...shock.
Me: You expect me to pay 57% more for 16 lousy glade guard? Really?
GW: No Mr. Palaeomerus, I expect you to die! Muahahahaha!
Me: Whu...uh....I.........ack...
GW: Oh wait, those were Australian prices. My apologies Mr. Palaeomerus. Glade Guard are still $35. Mr Palaeomerus? Hello?
