I recently got into 40k, and threw together a simple sheet of the charts from the rule book so I don't have to flip through the pages to find them. I'm sure most people have these memorized, but I'm sure this will help beginners like me out, and it helps (At least for me) more than the person your playing against telling you what you need to get. Note that it isn't properly scaled to a sheet of standard US paper, sp you'll either have to scale it your self or cut off the edges.

Any clue why they would have taken it down? Its not like it could act as a supplement for the rule book, so it wouldn't hurt sales or anything. In fact, it may even get more people get into and understand the game.

Is it copyright infringement posting scans of the rule book?

I actually had not thought of that, If it is I'll take this down, probably make a chart that isn't a direct copy/paste of the rule book.

Because then they might give the cheat sheet to there friends, making them not want to buy the book. Just like your doing.....

Oh and lock your doors extra tight tonight, the GW mafia might be after you now.

It cant exactly pull you through a game, if the rule book was necessary for only these 4 things, I dont think the pocket edition would be 156 pages long (Exactly 156, I checked). Oh, and I know I cannot hide from GW, they are everywhere, they see everything. An Omni-potent being, they will find me. But I will not go down without a fight. Wish me well.

What weapon do you think GW equips it's take down squads with?

My vote is a jump pack, bolter, and chainsword.

Really though I had this with my Dark Veng box and lost it and really wish I had it for the rare occasions I'm trying to figure out what my opponent is rolling to hit against grots.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

3rd ed came with a cool A4 card that had all this simple information on it.

It also had either on the back of the card or in the rulebook (my memory fails me) an army list sheet for making your army lists before games and it actually had clearly printed underneath words to the effect of 'please photocopy this as many times as you want to make army lists'

I couldn't imagine GW doing something like that now.

No way, they wouldn't spend the money on that kind of loadout.

It will be a Catachan with a big knife.

... and of course, by the end of summer, there's a slight chance you'd need to update this cheat sheet (depending if they decide to go crazy with changes in 7th).

When I was learning, elders at my FLGS also had my write out what units my list contained on a sheet of paper with all their stats and special rules (with description). The lack of flipping through pages and pages of an unfamiliar book cut game time and half and really helped me memorize the rules quickly. Mind you, I was like 12 and I still feel like it helped.

That, combined with some of the cheat sheets above would make learning much, much easier. By no means is it a complete substitute for the rulebook, but cutting down on page flipping and generally speeding up the game is the BEST way to hold the attention of new players who may be turned off by the tediousness.

I thought that was just generally something every one did, I've always make a list with all the unit names, stats, special ability's (With descriptions of what they do) etc.

You would think everyone would do it, but not everyone is a great teacher.
