Basically...zombies are expensive, and I still need to buy skeletons and some necromancers for my vampire counts army, I thought why not, I need a ton, and I found a ton cheap, if I buy 20mm bases it works for me..right?

Am I being too cheap about it? Should I buy games workshop models? Would you have problems with the bag o zombies guy?

Those don't look like they would be the same size.
To get zombies you can check out mantic games for all your undead stuff:

Cheaper and can get tons more

Oh cool, thanks for the quick response, everyone seems to be into mantic but I really do not look forward to waiting 2-3 weeks to start putting them together...oh well right.

Actually, Zombies!!! is a boardgame that uses 28mm miniatures.

That means they might be slightly smaller and will absolutely be less bulky than WHFB miniatures since WHFB uses what is called heroic 28mm.

But in general the size will not be a huge problem. The bigger problem is the fact that Zombies!!! is a game about the zombie apocalypse, so all the zombies wear modern clothes.

Mantic undead range is pretty good. They are certainly the strongest range they have IMO.

You're saving money, which is a good thing. GW Zombies aren't anything particularly amazing anyways.

But that thing you suggested might not be the best option. They might be too small- and they're made of glow-in-the-dark plastic? Sounds funky. I guess go for it if its cheap.

I second Mantic.

To answer your question I would have no problems with the bag of zombies guy. If I can tell what the model is meant to be and you are not trying to model for advantage than I don't care what you use, if someone can save money by painting a bag of zombies why not let them.

Bag of Zombies can work, but you should really glue 2 or 3 zombies on each base. You compensate for their smaller size and make the entire unit look even more awesome!

They sell these at my FLGS and they are MUCH smaller than GW scale miniatures. I wanted to use them zombie chaos cultists but they look like tiny little stick men compared to heroic scale. I seriously advise against it, although as mentioned they might work if you glue three or so of them on a base, they would still be much shorter than GW minis though.

Bag O Zombies are really small. IIRC, a third or so smaller than normal zombies.
I bought a bag to try them out and was disappointed when they showed up.
Mantic zombies, and unit fillers are the way to go.

Find the cheapest 20mm based infantry you can get made by GW, slaves, night goblins from BFSP etc.

Should be able to get a handful of delinquents cheap enough, chop some arms, legs, add a little gore with green stuff, voila tons of GW models no one can give you crap for that really didn't cost too much.

I imagine there are plenty of cheap leftovers from starter kits over the years.. empire spear men, night goblins, rats, hell some elves.. could get you a shambling horde risen from every flavor of foe you have conquered!

I am not a fan of most of Mantic's miniatures but their zombies are the cat's meow. It's a great option.
