Hi all
I've written an Eldar list which i hope is at least a little bit competitive, but i'm pretty bad at writing lists so i thought i'd run it by y'all before i go and start spending money on it. I like to write lists which can easily be converted to different point values so i've included the 1500, 1750 and 2000 point variants:

Farseer; Jetbike, Spirit Stone - 130

9x Jetbikes; 3 Shuriken Cannons - 183

6 x Jetbikes; 2 Shuriken Cannons - 122

10 x Guardians; Bright Lance, Wave Serpent, Scatter Lasers, Shuriken Cannon - 240

10 x Guardians; Bright Lance, Wave Serpent, Scatter Lasers, Shuriken Cannon - 240

10 x Guardians; Bright Lance, Wave Serpent, Scatter Lasers, Shuriken Cannon - 240

3 x War Walkers; 3 Scatter Lasers, 3 Bright Lances - 210

Fire Prism; Shuriken Cannon - 135

1500

5 x Rangers - 60

5 x Warp Spiders - 95

5 x Warp Spiders - 95

1750

5 x Fire Dragons, Wave Serpent, Scatter Lasers, Shuriken Cannon - 240

1990

I'm not entirely sure what to do with the last 10 points in the 2000 version.
Thanks for any advice!

You're probably going to want to look at adding Holo-Fields to your serpents.

Possibly swapping them out for the Rangers as you have a fair few scoring units already and in my (granted limited) experience Rangers very rarely have much to offer save for objective camping.

Oh and give your farseer a singing spear, it's a cheap and effective upgrade.

Ok if i do that it leave me with 10 points spare in the 1750 version and 5 points in the 2000 point version. anything in the entire book worth buying for that much?

Erm you could also drop the stone allowing you to upgrade a dragon to exarch and give him fast shot... Not sure if it's worth it completely though.

Just an another option.

as a rule i don't really think that exarchs are worth it they get very little for those points

Ya not really worth it, the fragons can drop any tanks they point at either way, just be a waste of points

I do drugs.
Mostly Plastic Crack, but I do dabble in Cardboard Cocaine.

Well if you have points a exarch could be worth it, he can eat a challenge from an enemy character and has BS5 which granted means he can almost kill a tank himself which means its not as much of a loss if the scrubs in the unit die, plus throw fast shot in and he becomes rambo (elf version of course).

Well yeah, but for the cost you could basically just buy another dragon. and the unit can't be challenged while he's not there so it's really neither here nor there. i just think exarch statlines suck, they should be unique to the aspect so they actually get something the aspect uses rather than just a little of everything. A fire dragon shouldn't need increased weapon skill, initiative and attacks.

Well, just throwing out there,

1) exarch taking a captain challenge means he hits you on 4s which while not fantastic, with only A3 depending on load out he may actually survive!

2) if he has fast shot hitting on 2+ means he can solo tanks

3) a exarch as apposed to another dragon, he hits better, which means he kills more.

I'm actually tempted to take an exarch just so that if a challenge occurs i can refuse it and reduce the units attacks, they're gonna lose melee either way they may as well do it fast and leave the enemy in the open on my turn

It really depends, vs guard they can do well, same with tau and crons, though vs marines you'll need a bit of luck, I mainly take exarchs (dragon) just for fastshot and firepike, so he runs around and pops AV.

I can see how he'd be useful, but he's not cheap, I'd have to lose something else to get him in there and I'm not sure I wanna let anything go

If you need to drop something then don't do it, all i'm doing is protecting the dragon exarch from the shelf.
