Subject: Question regarding Baseing Models

I saw some cool looking bases online that I was considering ordering for my normal infantry models. However, those bases are 30mm and normal infantry are 25mm. So my question is this- if I move the base insert off of the 30mm and onto the 25mm and have parts sticking off of the edge, will that affect gameplay?

Yes, possibly. I mean, it will make close combat more annoying, for sure. Also, when you measure things from the model, you've got to be able to measure from the base, not the whatever scenic thing sticking off the edge of the base.
If you can get around it, though, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Out of curiosity, what is it that you're thinking of getting?

Oh, well you probably won't have any problems with that particular product. You'll note that they are 30mm bases, but the resin cast doesn't go anywhere near the edge of the base. There probably won't be very much overhang on a 25mm base, if any.
Worst case, you can buy some and give it a try. It should be obvious pretty quickly if there are going to be any problems.

In any case, a lot of the measurements in infinity are from CENTRE of base, not edge - so a slightly larger base just reduces your range and makes it easier for others to hit you with templates.

Oh the joys of forgetting what game forum you're posting in. Also I'll just mention that those are designed as Warmachine bases. Infantry bases in Warmachine are 30mm and that rounded lip is their style.
