I only have codex BA but a devestator squad with 5 models and 4 lascannons is 190 points. 4 joakeros and a warrior acolyte is 144 points, nearly 50 points cheaper. Both the Devs and joakeros have 4 lascannons but the joakeros also have multi meltas and heavy flamers and a 5+ invun and special rules they roll at the start of the game.

The SM have a better BS but the joakero squad can get a leve 1 psyker inquisitor in their squad casting prescience and they are only 200 points total for an inquisitor level 1 psyker with prescience so re roll to hit, 4 joakeros and 1 warrior acolyte.

Should SM players who want a dev squad of lascannons choose to get 4 joakeros instead from codex inquisition?

C:SM devastator squads are only 150 and can still get the Inquisitor support. I think it's just a function of the Blood Angels not having a 6th Ed codex yet.

No. The Jokaero has virtually no survivability. The Space Marines have a score of advantages in their favor, including Chapter Tactics and ATSKNF. A squad of 4 Jokaero has shot themselves in the foot by almost guaranteeing that they won't get any benefit from one of the few perks they DO have. (Inconceivable Customization.)

I'm not saying that space monkeys don't have their place, or that they aren't good. But far and away better than Devastators? Not even close.

they have a 5+ invun, but a dev squad with 48 inch range should be kept in a nice ruin at the back of the table.

joakeros have 3 weapns each as well.

12 twinlinked joakeros behind a prometheum pipeline with coteaz is a mean thing. Even meaner when they have a character to tank for em.

what is a prometheum pipeline?

personally I would only ut coteaz in a squad of 12 joakeros if he was on a quad gun as his normal weapon is only 24 inch range, best to use an inquisitor with a conversion beamer as that has a long range so can shoot at the same targets as the joakeros.

The pipeline either turns template weapons into torrents or makes them twinlinked. Can't remember which.

Either way it makes burnaboyz hilariously nasty.

I ran jokaero in a bastion with coteaz for a while, it is pretty effective and you get to overwatch heavy flamers at anyone that charges but its pretty expensive ~350 by the time you've paid for coteaz and the building too.

still 4/5 twin linked ignores cover lascannons is awesome when you roll perfect timing (and scoring too).

nowadays though id probably just take lc blobs with officer orders since i play traitor guard

It is in the Stronghold Assault book, with this:
Non-vehicle models with flamers get to change them to Heavy and can then torrent.
But, hide behind it for a cover save, and risk getting blown up by a stray shot.
