There's also rumour of a new edition of Fantasy this year as well; although with a new
40K also apparently on the cards this rumour might be more unreliable. Also since
GW cracked down on leaks there is significantly less accuracy in many rumours at present (a lot of it is just wish-listing in forums and blogs/news-sites generating traffic for themselves).
Both Harry & Hastings were pretty adamant in saying that Fantasy 9th ed wouldn't be until 2015 before they stopped posting rumors due to people treating them so viciously.
And no,
VC's will not be getting a new book anytime soon. Their current book is one of, if not the best single 8th ed book to date in terms of it's flexibility & viability. The only way they jump the line right now is if the next edition completely screws over Undead again like what 8th edition did.
We still have Wood Elves (now up for pre-order), Brets, Skaven & Beastmen needing their own hardcover books first.
Odds are Orcs & Gobbos + Empire will be the first to get shiny new 9th ed books, while Tomb Kings & Ogres are both slightly older books than
VC's, (not to mention the internal issues & general overcosting problems for the poor dusty ones.) And Daemons need a s***load of polishing to their current gakfest compared to the
VC book.
So realistically,
VC's are almost definitely at least 6-7+ books down the line, and more than likely get jumped by another book or two that's screaming for some better internal balancing/re-working of godly unit(s) and/or items. (looking at you Beasts of Nurgle!)
