Context:
Furioso (frag cannon & heavy flamer) in pod 170 points
or
Add Tycho 175 points to the 5 Sternguard squad (all combi-meltas) & Corbulo bubble in pod
In a 2000 pts. MEQ list with a naked libby, 5 sternguard+corby in pod, 20 ASM with 4 meltaguns in 4 lasplas razorbacks, 5 scout snipers, 2 baal preds and 2 TLAC/MM ravens.
What would do more for its points? I´ve never used Tycho before, would this meq list fit him?

Not tycho. Furioso all the way. Tycho is just a huge point sink

I'd agree with the ap that for THIS list I'd go with a fragioso, but I disagree that Tycho is a point sink in other lists.
At this stage I'd argue he's the best hq the codex has to offer. Does everything well, good stat line, sternguard ammo and cc ignores saves.
It really depends what you're going up against. A mech-heavy list will limit your furioso to one good drop then inevitably get blown up -- though it will dominate hordes.

Alright thx for the inputs.
One more question, against a heavy mechanized list, wouldn´t be better to use Tycho´s points for more sternguard units with combi-meltas in pod?
for example, 5 sternguard+Corby+Tycho vs 9 sternguard+Corby and use the remaining points for upgrades. In other words, is Tycho still worth his points against mechanized?

I disagree with this. I mean, the codex has so many amazing choices, like regular Captain, Sanguinior and Astorath!!

I'd load up on more sternguard against a mech-heavy list, personally. That said, I'd be wary of putting too many eggs in the drop pod basket. If you have access to them MM attack bikes are durable, give you multiple shots and have better overall versatility than massing huge amounts of combi shots then getting stuck.
As for the rest of the HQ options, I think it's no-contest. Captains are okay if you kit them out right, but then you're approaching Tycho's points anyway and he has a beast of a CC weapon and gives everyone his leadership.
I think the Sanguinor is terrible against 80%+ of lists. No way to look out sir wounds, the 3+ invuln is okay (as is the attack/sergeant buff) but I think he's among the worst land raider priced characters in the game.
Astorath is neat for a DC list (which is my favorite fluff-wise) but it's too pricey to be even semi-competitive in my books. I'm a beer and pretzels player, not a tournament dude -- but still it's just too costly.
If I had to rank the HQ options in the BA dex in 5th it would be:
1. Tycho
2. Librarian
3. Dante
4. Captain

Forgot Mephiston, who is #2, right behind libby at #1.

I have no clue how I forgot Mephie... shame on me.
A libby is very solid, but I tend to get better results from Tycho.

It's almost impossible to beat access to prescience or a force multiplier like SoS. And a force weapon.
