Hello,

Im planning on making a Astra Militarum army but stylized after Monty's Desert Rats (British Africa forces in ww2) My main issue im running into right now is finding human leg bitz that are wearing shorts.

Thanks for any and all help possible. i have found many great options for heads and even chests but i cannot for the life of me find any legs that even have shorts, let alone shorts with boots and high socks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This kit looks like it is almost to perfect, i would end up just using this 100% and i dont know what do you think is it a bit cheese to just strate up use 100% of another company's models?

@Zagreekie - At the risk of killing that idea, I'd suggest not going with using Historical miniatures in conjection with GW or other 3rd Party bitz intended for GW models. My only reason for saying is that I was wanting to do a similar thing, using Victrix models as a base for a Napoleonic British themed IG regimetn. Unfortunately, in a very similar thread, it was pointed out to me that GW uses a vastly different '28mm' scale to historical models 28mm scale. This picture was brought to my attention, and sums it up really:

AS you can see, although the height is the same, GW's models are far more 'chunky'. I'd say it's likely that if you mix any GW components or GW compatible 3rd Party bits with your box of Perry figures, the proportions will be quite wrong. I know this isn't getting you further forward, but at least it may help you not to take a step backwards. :(

I do understand this issue, which pushes me even further into my privus consern that it would really not be a "converted guard army" so much as a "count as guard" army with 100% perry miniatures and then GW tanks.

I dont know how well that feels i mean would i come across as a total cheep gak if i showed up to a turnoment with a army like that?

na try showing up with a Perry Napoleonic army and card board tanks then you look cheap. Although the cardboard tanks did look cool.

Historicals are not all the same scale...even within companies. 28mm Napoleonics tend to be smaller than 28mm WWII figures. The WWII figures tend to be closer to GW (some actually bigger than them):

Perry's WWII are pretty spot on to Warlord's. Although they lack the chibi deformed nature of GW's figures...they are pretty close to the same height.

For the conversion - weapon swaps, change out some of the historical equipment with more sci-fi looking comms and things like binoculars. It doesn't take much.

I wouldn't worry about feeling like you are just using another companies figures. Unless you owe GW a blood debt...no reason to use their figures.
