This may be talked about in the 70+ page sisters tactics thread, but I can't find it. Besides, at that size it is becoming crazy.

I know she may not be the best option, but I don't want to have to rely on named characters all the time, so I want to make a Cannoness and a command squad. If I make one Celestian a Medic for the feel no pain, that gives me four to equipt and the Cannoness herself. (In a Immolater of course)

I am thinking of going crazy and giving the squad Melta guns. Not as good as dominaters I admit, but with feel no pain and the ability to have power weapons I could do some damage in melee against non assault units.

What about the Cannoness? Combi-Melta and a power weapon of some sort? Or plasma pistol and power weapon? Or save her for melee with that big two handed chain saw thing?

Just a note, While I want to make them WYSIWYG, we don't worry too much about that around where I play, so if I have to say something like. "This squad does not have power swords, I did not have the points." before a game no one should care. I just don't want to be the guy saying: "Now the guy with a storm bolter has a lascannon, the guy with a red helmet has a standard, and the guy with the. . ." I want to be close and if there is a exception it is global, like "All of my squad leaders have power swords." Or something like that.

Are you really really really sure you want a command squad? They are a not-that-stompy unit somehow still designed for close combat. If you do take them, I suggest giving them heavy flamers for a neat potential 15 overwatch heavy flamer hits.

I'm not so sure about the hospitaller, as a 5+ FNP isn't that impressive with the amount of S6+ shooting in the game. Certainly if you can get another heavy flamer for the same price.

I'd consider giving them melta bombs if I were you, as the 5 S8 melta attacks you'll get on vehicles will most likely blow up anything without that one anti-melta special rule.

The best tactic for them (IMO, of course) is to give them all heavy flamers and melta bombs. Drive them halfway up the field and let them hop out at the place you need to defend. Do it in such a way that the enemy will need a charge roll of 7 or higher to charge you. Then when you fire overwatch, you might strip the foremost 2/3 models and (hopefully) make him fail his charge, so that you can counter-charge the next turn. Also, these girls are the ideal bunker-busters with 5D6 heavy flamer hits on the inside, and if that isn't enough, you'll just blow up the building!

As for the canoness, I suggest getting a combi-flamer or plasma pistol. If you feel like taking a gamble, give her a rosarius and either the cloak of Saint Aspira or the mantle of Ophelia, and place her in front of your command squad. Just let her tank the hits. As for the rest, you might want to consider taking a power weapon, but it's probably not worth the cost.

Good points

Really, I want a hq option for when named characters are disallowed. If I gave them flamers or melta I could run them as dominators most of the time. Or I could just use a dom squad with a canoness, would be cheaper. And the act of faith more useable

If you really want a command squad to melee, they will need a rhino so that you can fit a priest with them.

Without a priest power swords on an S3 model are bad :(

A close combat unit with only 5 models and I3 and no access to an assault transport also has problems, but that can be mitigated a bit by the cannoness (at least until she gets challenged and the squad must fend for itself).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
You could just spend 105 on the cannoness to give her EW and 4++, then attach her to the front of the squad most likely to eat high S low AP fire.

Personally my sisters are mech heavy and dont have the points nor the need for special characters. I just use a cannoness with the book and condemnor if I have extra points and she leads a ez-bake oven unit in a immo.

I tend to run with:

Cannoness with Combi-Melta, Rosarius, Mantle (to give Eternal Warrior) and power sword or axe.

I often put her up front with a Dominion Squad in a transport
