Wrong forum, should be in General. Look there once this thread gets locked.
I say wait a week or 2. Rumour is we may have a new rules on the 24 of May, so something will be said next week. Wait a few weeks.
Buy the army you want, but wait for the rule book in a few weeks.

Preorders are supposed to be up the 24th not the release. The release date is said to be the 31st

Latest (Natfka, so dubious) info is that sale date is 24th.
That gives a whole week of the financial year to get the release sales on to the annual figures.

Get the 5th edition rulebook off Ebay or something and use that. 6th isn't worth your time/money and 7th certainly won't be either.
Or you can wait a few months for 8th edition and see how that goes.

Get a piking raincheck, and have them buy you 7th when it comes out.
Getting the 6th edition rulebook is a terrible, terrible idea unless you're getting a huge discount because it's going outdated or you have a gaming group that's resolved to never play 7th.

Completely agreed, which also leads to me questioning the logic behind the people who voted on the sixth edition BRB. I mean hell if your going to play an earlier edition of 40k you would not go with 6th ed but rather an earlier edition.

That is not very good humour at all. If you are so jaded, why are you still around? Telling someone to spend his hard earned money on something that most people use is not very nice.

I should certainly wait until 24th May to see if there is a new rulebook coming out. It is only three weeks.
You would look such a flat if you spent £45 on a 6th edition book that became obsolete a few days afterwards.

Well, just wait to see if the new edition will come out by May 24.
If so, pick up the rulebook or wait for a while and get the starter set with a small rulebook inside.

Games workshops in my local area have pulled 6th edition from the shelves. I'd say if they're not selling it; you shouldn't be buying it.

Wait for 7th. If there is even an inkling that your parents might get you 6th tell them now before it is too late to lay off on the rulebook for another 11 days. I am sure if you tell them you don't mind the present being late that they will understand especially when its so close.

Before it was on a 4 year cycle, but this time its only been two years since sixth was released, which has gotten some people thinking that now GW will be releasing the new editions even sooner.

Just wait. The new edition will be out by the end of May. It's silly to buy 6th edition at this point.

Nope, never was a set cycle. Between 1st & 2nd edition it was 6 years, then 5, then 6 again, then 4, and 4. GW has never set a life cycle for their rules. Could be yearly, or could be every decade (which would be nice). Never any rhyme or reason with the rule book release.... I agree 2 years is rude though, but 7th seems to be looking fantastic.

Id just wait if I were you... its only gonna be a couple of weeks and theres no point dumping monies into something that will be obsolete in a matter of days. The 6th ed book does have cool art and fluff in it though, can probably get one dirt cheap now aswell
