[user]Having reached the 6000pt mark with my iron warriors, I decided to call time on them and move on to my next project, and with the release of the new guard code my mind was made up. Obviously I couldnt build a standard guard army, so with using them as allies to my csm in mind, I stole other peoples ideas and set out to build a renegade mutant guard army. As beastmen hhave been done before, I started there. In time I will possibly add other races into the mix. Obvious candidates include minotaur bullgryns and skaven ratling snipers.

Anyway. Enough waffle. Here are the first of my test minis and prototype troops. Please bear in mind that they are by no means finished products, and the paint is a bit rough.

Sorry for the sideways pics by the way. My new phone is causing issues. Lol. Will rectify tthe issue asap.

Looks great...

Good luck with the project

Heres another prototype. This one was a lot more work than you'd think. As I had to cut away a most of his back to get the cloak and arms to fit right.

Really liking the colour scheme, makes them seem quite feral and Chaotic just on its own. The conversions are very neatly executed too, good stuff.

Loving the look of these. Will they be getting any hand-painted hazard stripes to tie them into your awesome Iron Warriors army?

Ha. Yeah. They'll be getting stripes soon. Plus some big guns to back them up.

So having decided early on in the project that i would use as much of each kit as possible, i decided to see what i could piece together.
As i always do before starting any modelling, i had a quick look through the codex, spotting sergeant Harker and remembering the CSM heavy bolters i had in my bits box, a plan came together. I would use the beastman torsos to represent my veteran squads, fluff wise i figure they have been fighting for the forces of chaos for longer than the other guardsmen, and as a consequence they have mutated into more bestial forms.
Anyway, im waffling again. lol.
All feedback would be greatly appreciated as these are all wip.
sgt Harkers arms still need re posing, as i am waiting for the glue to set properly so i can pose them "on the body" and the few that do have some paint on, are extremely rough. Also the eagle eyed amonst you may notice the melta bombs. i plan on playing them with the "demolitions doctrine.

Finished the re pose on sgt Harkers arms now. Just some minor filling to do before I start painting.
I also threw a company/platoon commander together from some bits I had left over, he's only a temporary fix until I can go and buy a more suitable model and im not completely happy with the paint job so far. He'll do for now though.

Finished my nork deddog, and nearly finished his two pals (wip shots below). Nork is now on holiday at gw's warrington store , and his friends are awaiting bases plus the arrival of some parts for my renegade bullgryn squad. I also managed to get my chimera base coated and shaded.

Still along way to go on this project, but hopefully I'll have a playable army by this time next month.

I wasnt pleased with the heavy weapon team I built, so it had to be re done. I re-posed the gunner ( using 3 different torsos) and added an old SM bike as scenery. Then rebuilt the loader adding a chain strap for the ammo pack.

A quick word to anyone looking to re-pose beastman torsos. Be prepared for some serious hard work, as they are moulded in one piece and a co.plete p.i.t.a to work on. I still need to build a bipod for the bolter and refine the positioning a little, but its pretty much ready for primer now.

Well. I finally finished something. Lol. Despite being a pain to build, I actually enjoyed the challenge. If anyones interested I will list the parts used below,

4 beastman torsos
4 beastman arms
1 A.M scion arm and medipack
Sm devastator heavy bolter
Sm heavy bolter backpack
Magazine and ammo belt from devastator kit
Ripper gun handle
Sm bike
2x A.M scion heads.
Chain from bits box

I would really appreciate any feedback on this as it is a prototype of sorts, and I don't want to waste my time building more if it doesn't work.

Possibly the proudest moment of my hobby career happened today. I wanted to do something on the scroll on the side of my chimera, aand rather than the pseudo script I have seen on many models I decided to have a go at the real thing, and im pretty pleased with how it turned out. The tank is around 80 percent done now with just the rivets and weapons to finish

My minotaurs arrived today, so its time to start my bullgryns. I started by assembling the torso, arms and head seperately, then tacked them together. Then I dremeled the back of the bullgryn armour pieces to remove the torso specific mouldings, cut off the strap pieces and tacked them to the torso.

I then made two GS straps to go over the shoulders and attached them. The minotaur models are a lot bulkier than the ogryns, so I will have to do a lot of work on the armour.

While I waited for the GS to cure I started work on the arms. The shield arm was easy. Two GS rectangles as handles and its pretty much done. The other arm required a notch cutting out and the gauntlet carefully trimming and drilling to fit. .

The pics below show my progress so far
Any tips and/or suggestions gratefully recieved as I dont really have much experience working with GS.

You build some awesome conversions mate. They all look bloody brilliant. Also love the colour scheme, especially on the tanks. The only slight issue for me personally is the backpack for the heavy weapon loader, it looks a bit too bulky for the bloke, other than that everything is brilliant as usual. Can't wait to see more.

I'm not sure about the back plate on the minotaur, it looks loose and as if it doesn't fit right.

What I'd do instead is to make the shoulder straps shorter and leave his low back uncovered, as if he picked a standard armor and threw it on.

Other than that, awesome conversions. I've already subscribed.

Yeah. I know what you mean about the back plate. I've already scrapped it in favour of sculpting one to fit. Early days yet but its already better. Lol.

Yeah. I tried it. Unfortunately it still doesnt sit right, so it looks like making my own is the only way forward. At least that way I can make a mould and cast as many as I want without causing any IP infringement issues.

Some of you might have noticed that my updates aren't exactly ordered. Lol. A bit like my mind. I seem to have at least 5 or 6 projects on the go at any one time.

I'm still building up the layers of GS on my first bullgryn so not a lot to report there, aand my weapons teams are awaiting re-posing. However I have built 3 more bases for the lascannon teams. The idea is that the teams are advancing up the battlefield using debris, craters and wrecked machinery as cover.
