Space Marine Scout with Sniper Rifle
|
On ALL websites or sources I look at, all I see is "the space marine battle barges are bristling with guns and launch bays" but they never say exactly what is on the barges. I pick up snippets of weapons in novels but they never state where these weapons actually are. If someone could create a battle barge and strike cruiser weapons list I would be eternally grateful. Thanks

The standard armament of any Imperial ship are massive arrays of magnetic acceleration slug weapons along with various energy based weapons which are roughly equal. So oversized Lascannons, Plasma cannons, and what we today would call Railguns.
Those are the small caliber weapons.
All ships will then have some larger weapons. Torpedo launchers, which fire skyscraper sized missiles carrying obscenely large plasma warheads and are outfitted with only rudimentary guidance systems.
Then you have Lance batteries, which are a very very large direct energy weapon.
Battle Barges, instead of having Lances, have Bombardment cannons. Which are oversized railguns that fire a slug which itself has an explosive warhead many times more powerful than a Nuclear bomb. They are designed for planetary bombardment but are just as destructive to space vessels.
Battle Barges will also have Torpedo launchers and launch bays for strike craft.
Note that Battle Barge is merely a purpose designation, it is not a specific class of ship. The Ad Mech does make a ship designed as a Battle Barge for space marines, but a chapter can basically retrofit any capital ship into a Battle Barge configuration. This means there is a large amount of diversity in battle barges, some may have lances although this is frowned upon by the Imperium.
Strike Crusiers are the same story but smaller. Not a specific standard class of armament, but they tend to have large arrays of the smaller weapon batteries, a launch bay, and then a number of Bombardment Cannons or Lances.
Some Strike Cruisers don't have Launch Bays, but instead have either more Bombardment cannons or Torpedo tubes mounted in its place.

Some of the oldest battlebarges where modified battleships and some current ones are.
The space wold fleet contains two modified battleships at least as battlebarges formally of impirial navy or acquired via various means

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

You can visit here for a good repository of Battlefleet Gothic resources, giving lots of information regarding the ships.

Yup, Bombardment Cannons.
Ruleswise, they are the most powerful weapon per hit that isn't a Nova Cannon. Utter disregard for a ships armor value and cause a critical on 4+ instead of 6.

That is not completely true it hits like normal weapon batteries that hit always on a 4+ great against high armor value ships but not much use against eldar, also they are quite short ranged.
Warpcannons were the strongest weapon in BFG hit like a lance but ignore shields also abandons planet killer weapon was also nasty.

Ugh, battlebargers are beasts to play against. The 6+ armour, bombardment cannons and wings of thunderhawks make them a real monster. You have to lance them to death!
