My new Astra Militarum list for the new codex! It will be fighting Tau, and probably a fair amount of Broadsides. I would like some help on how to maximise the ranged power of this list! Cover isn't an issue, I wil have some trench lines on both ends of the table anyway. I'm not sure about the Wyvern and the effectiveness of the list. Should I drop the Shadowsword for more dakka/more men?

The list seems solid to me.
a fair amount of armour, good artillery support,a fair number of troops and if you can field your shadowsword, why not.

I've just had a thought, maybe I can swap out the two Basilisks and drop some points on the way for a Manticore and extra Wyvern? Would the ton of blasts be worth it? Also, just for clarity, the Astropath would be buffing the combined Infantry Platoon with prescience and First Rank, Second Rank/Bring it Down/Fire on my Target for extra fun. Automatically Appended Next Post: Anyone?

Astropath does not have access to prescience. Primaris does he is 25 points more.
Also why mix so many weapons in the veteran squad?
Is there no flyers in the tau list?

Well, given my knowledge of the Tau player in question, he will expect me to take Vendettas, but I doubt heavily he will take any of his own flyers. Even if he does, I can try to autocannon and plasma them out of the skies (with the dice gods on my side!)
Don't worry about the Vets, they're mainly just a fun unit for me, and they do quite well anyway!
Good catch on the Astropath, I mixed up the two Psychic tables! Is Telepathy worth anything good, or could I drop him easily?
Again, should I perhaps take another Wyvern and Manticore and drop my Basilisks? Thanks.

telepathy isnt too great.
If you drop the baailisks and add a manticore and another wyvren, i would say it about equals out.

Okay, so would you recommend I drop the Astropath and take the Manticore and Wyvern? Also, how good are Wyverns against entrenched Tau? And yes, Shadowsword has a 7" D Blast.

Wyvrens are amazing against entrenched anything. Ignore cover. but for the infantry they are great they will be wounding on 3+ with rerolls. you will be forcing a ton of wounds clearing up whole squads per turn. Automatically Appended Next Post: You could drop one basalisk for a second wyrven, and use the extra points to get the primaris psyker for divination on your command tanks. Automatically Appended Next Post: After droping the astropath that would still leave you a few points to play with.

So dropping the extra Basilisk and Astropath for a Wyvern and Primaris leaves me 35 points. Any last minute extras? Automatically Appended Next Post: Would dropping the last Basilisk and 10 points be worth it to take a Manticore or are they not worth it?
