So, I'm gonna make a concerted effort not to let 7th Edition rule changes bother me, and what better way than to put 40k down for a while and let others guinnea pig it.

I have an army of Romans waiting to be painted, and I think now might be the time to tackle that project, and get back into Hail Caesar for a while. Couple that with a LOTR game here and there, and wait to see what the verdict is on 7th ed before deciding whether or not to fork over another 100.

I will continue playing the games I play now...Artemis, Pathfinder, Only War, Troll the Forums.

Wait, how did that last one get in there?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I'll be playing 40k because I love the game and the group I play with. If someone in my group wants to play some Necromunda, I'll play that too. In other words, business as usual.

I hear ya. I'm not going sight-unseen with this one, because there are rumors going around that if true would keep me in 6th edition, and there are other rumors that this won't actually change 6th edition...just incoporate FAQs, Escalation, and Stronghold. The only thing that will get me to plunk down $ is rule changes that make the game better.

Probably 40k and FB still.

I'm not parting with my collection and I've already sunk an absurd amount of Money into 40k and FB.

The answer to this question is almost certainly "whatever the people in my LGS are playing", but I've seen very good things about Infinity. It's kind of like what would happen if you overhauled the Necromunda mechanics to take advantage of the things we've learned in the last 20 years of game design. Although necromunda has the best campaign system I've ever seen in a wargame to this day, so there's always that.

I've played all the other editions, I don't see anything changing with this one.
I'm painting up a selection of Infinity, Malifaux, and FW Primarchs at the moment to keep myself occupied.

We've actually been talking about starting a game of Necromunda...I have never played, but I have a squad of Cultists ready to paint for whenever anyoe wants to play it, and it sounds like quite alot of fun to me.

For me it was a tie between Warmachine and Infinity, then I saw Convergence's "Iron Mother" and fell in love.

40k 6th. Deadzone. LOTR. Maybe some RPGs at some point. (all of this is assuming I actually manage to get some games in at all)

Other than that, I'll just focus on painting and modelling.

In addition, I've yet to find any system's background that even vaguely interests me, few even make me not roll my eyes.

Plus, me and the wife have spent an absolutely ridiculous amount of money on GW products ranging from Epic to BFG to FB and 40k. Not exactly something you can offload and I'd hate to have to start from the beginning again.

If 7e sucks then I'll just truck along with Kainhammer 40000 and Fantasy Battle as usual.

Maybe then it will encourage me to finish my own system.

First, wait for 7th.

Then, if it really turns out to be that bad, play some 6th.

Then, Flames of War. The average player's age difference between FoW is 40k is hilarious.

What do we do if 7e actually turns out to be super-awesome and kickass with a Sisters of Battle vs Necron starter kit or something like that?

Though the second part might be the really implausible bit/

The first part is far more unbelievable to me

No, GW giving anything to the SoBs is by far more unbelievable given how committed they seem to be to slowly turning an already male heavy setting into a total sausage fest.

I have a sneaking suspicion that GW is actively sexist given how much they marginalize women by doing things like shoving the SoBs into developmental hell, have very few female models that aren't hugely sexualized without having sexualized male models (I'm fine with fan service so long as it's equal opportunity), wrote out female stormtroopers and commissars outright in the newest book, and of course retconning away female space marines because raisins.

But it's okay because me and my wife are working on a ground up redesign of 40k, fluff and crunchwise.

If GW wants to be committed to making this sausagefest of a hobby even less appealing to women, it can ride the gravy train to it's doom.

And meanwhile Warmachine has tons of great female characters. This is the figure that sold me on Warmachine instead of Infinity.

I'd need to get a new shed to stuff models in if I pick up more wargames hah.

I'll check on Warmahordes if the fluff interests me or not.

Still, looking at 40k with fresh eyes design wise is my pet project ATM.

But I have a feeling GW might implode and the rights snapped up by someone eager to take the name and profit with it in ways GW never could before I get a releasable version.

Because I actually care about a good game for all involved and not just plonking models on the table, rolling dice, and going "pewpew for da emprah WAAAAAGH!"

Oh? I think I recall hearing that female Stormtroopers were still possible. I think it's a case of the fluff not outright saying anything on it, but not forbidding it either. Don't know about Commissars, though.

I think the line reads all females in the Schola are passed off to the ministorum or something dumb like that.

I blocked it out and went the FFG route of ignoring it.

I know I'm not going to buy 7th on release. It will be the first time since I started back in 2nd that I have done that. Let other people play and read battle reports before making up my mind. If this is my stopping point, I'll find an older version my friends want to play when I get the 40k itch. Maybe 2nd ed. Otherwise I play plenty of other games (FoW, Dust, Saga, etc) and I have two kickstarters shipping soon. If "Wrath of Kings" or "All Quiet on the Martian Front" don't work for me. I may try "Drop Zone Commander". I'm hearing good things about it.
