I cant decide between Wood elves and Beastmen.
Which should i get? I feel im drawn to wood elves because they are being updated, but beastmen just look so bad ass even though i know they aren't that great/
before the wood elves update which army would be better? Since im just guessing whenever beastmen get updated they will probably be a bit better.
Thank you

Both I could only narrow it down to three so I'm just doing all three (wood elves, tomb kings and lizardmen)
If it's definitely one or the other, I got my WE book today and it's gorgeous, and I'm massively excited to use them. And the treeman kit is a delight to build. So much fun, so customisable.

Since beastmen are probably getting updated after Brets (the next rumored army book to be coming out) I would strongly advise waiting till then. That way you can put together an army that works for you for the next few years as opposed to the next few months which is probably what the lifespan is for the current book. If you are wanting to play something now, I would suggest Wood Elves because they have great rules, models look ace, and they won't be receiving an update for quite a long time. Finally, it has been rumored that when 9th edition finally hits the shelves that the starter set is going to contain Wood elves and Beastmen in the starter box. I want to play beastmen too in fact that is my next fantasy army to start but i'm waiting till the 8th (or 9th) edition book comes out.

You've already made your choice. "look so bad ass"
You're going to be pending a LOT of time with these models between painting, assembly & play. Beastmen may not be the best but they certainly aren't unwinnable. Go with them, they should be getting the update after brets anyway.
Also I feel a lot of people are looking at WE now not because they like them but because they have the shiny & new factor. That will fade but if you love the look of beastmen now the update will msot likely only make them better.

Actually its possible that the new Bretonnians will not be updated next, but the Beastmen would be. Not only are they the Wood Elves rivals, they also by far are a lot less competitive compared to Bretonnia right now, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Beastmen get the nod over Bretonnia. I won't be exactly happy with that as I love my Brets but I can understand that reasoning to be fair.
That being said, do what you want to do and what you like. Do you want a WE army that has great shooting and can dish out a lot of damage, but is very fragile and needs to utilize a good movement phase? Or do you want an army with a lot of Beasts such as Minotaur's and Ungors running around.

TBH neither Brets or Beasts have any concrete rumours for them, the only reason people have thought this have been because of Wood elves badly needing an update, so people are assuming the other old books are gonna get an update as well. I sincerely hope they do get updated as they are in my top 3 armies that I have.
On topic, I would probably go for wood elves. They are still relativly cheap and tactical.Beasts rely on your meta, more often than not, you build a list that works well for ages, thensomeone comes and tables you, and then its back to the drawing board (or that's what happens to me at any rate). Trial and error mostly for beasts.
