A new very promising effort by Oathsworn miniatures, which has given us already some amazing pieces.
One great looking model, which hopefully will be the beginning of a whole range

I really liked the last two KS' s done by oathsworn, very nice models and supplied on time which was a novelty for a KS.

You mean Sleipnir is in?!?

Awesome!

I've always loved this pic of him:

And these too, of course!

I really like the miniature and would buy it but the scale of 40mm turns me off. I try to keep my mini buys at 28 mm.

That's a clever way to run a KS, one model, one level. I don't have much use for the model, but I would wish them luck. They seem to be well past needing luck at this point though!

It is 28 mm scale. Odin is just supposed to be bigger than your average human due to being a god.

Thanks for posting this Corgan! I was going to get round to it eventually, honest....

Ken, I can understand the concern over the size issue - it all depends on what you are looking for from a god figure I guess.

Or, you could pledge for him anyway, leave him in a box for 5 years, and by then all the 28mm figures on sale will measure 40mm tall anyway!

I backed Oathsworns two previous Kickstarters and was very, very happy with the way the campaigns were handled and the quality of the minis; nothing but good things to say about these guys.

Latest (and first) update

by Oathsworn Miniatures

First of all, we just want to say a big Thank you! to all of you. Going into this project, we were unsure whether it would fund; it was just something we really wanted to try, but we honestly didn't think there'd be so many people interested.

So, where do we go from here? Well, we have a couple of options. The first is to let this project run to the end, deliver Odin, then start a new project for another god.  The second is to do another god, or even two, and add a new pledge level for them. The drawback with this is that any new stuff couldn't be moulded until July, which would mean a later delivery date.

Either way, it's time to start working on another god sculpt; so if there's something particular you want to see, let us know in the comments of this update. We're thinking it's probably best to continue with the Norse pantheon for now - and we are leaning towards sculpting Hel, the half-alive/half-dead ruler of Niflheim, or Freyja riding her battle-boar, Hildisvini, or maybe Tyr, the one-handed warrior...

So, over to you, guys and gals - what do you think?

Cheers,

Michael and Jo

Wave delivery is the best system for that kind of thing, imo. Deliver Odin on-time as originally planned, and if folks want to pledge for more they wait until all they're pledging for is finished, and you list a later date for the other figures.

If you have the ability to handle it, you can give people the opportunity to pay for split shipping, but at least not penalizing folks who pledge for the first figure because you add more would be good, imo.

You are very welcomed! It's the least for your effort in the two previous absolutely successful by every aspect KSs and the great looking miniatures.

As for the question you raise in your first update I would like to see some nice versions of the Greek gods (Poseidon and Athena would be my first picks) but in a future KS. Better to stay with the Scandinavian mythology gods pantheon for this one. Regarding the issue of a second miniature I would also agree to remain to remain with the current one for this KS, at least for the moment.

Update 2

OK, this is what we'll do....

Thanks again everyone for all the comments and feedback yesterday - it was all very useful. So useful, in fact, that we've developed it into The Plan.

So here's The Plan; this Kickstarter will stay exactly as it is. We'll get Odin produced and delivered as expected. And while that's happening, I'll get cracking on the next god... Freyja riding Hildisvini.

We'll do another project for Freyja when she's done... and we'll do Odin's wolves, and Odin's ravens. They'll be available as an add-on to Freyja, and as a separate pledge in case you want them but don't want Freyja.

Once that's done, we'll do Thor, on his goat-pulled chariot. And maybe a Loki figure for that one as well.

Then finally another Kickstarter for Loki's scary kids - Hel, Fenrir, and Jormungandr.

So including this Odin KS, that's four for the Norse gods.

And we're thinking if you get in on all 4 projects, we'll do a free Odin the Wanderer figure at the end...

Of course, we've also got to fit the Dwarf brewers set in there somewhere - we've got 10 finished, and a couple more planned. And we were also hoping to make some progress on our skirmish game... Not enough hours in the day!

Anyway, that's The Plan. And to show we mean it, I've started on Freyja...

Now that our Odin Kickstarter is funded, we've decided to do a model of Freyja and her boar, Hildisvini.
I'll be recording the process in the Kickstarter updates, so if you want to see the ham-fisted way I sculpt minis, take a look (and pledge for Odin while you're there! )
