I'll pick up the WI for the inevitable rules supplement. But I'll probably wait to jump in. It may be possible to make a reasonable Czech Legion stand in from the French lists when they arrive.

Meh. Nothing for late war Brits. Here's hoping they don't put off the next late war book too long and the rumored plastic Comets.

I'm happy for the WW1 fans, though I've got no interest in it myself. I'm hoping that they manage to get to the other end of the time line before long. I really, really, really want a mid-80s miniatures game that represents the same organizational level as Steel Panthers (which just happens to be the same level as Flames of War).

Will Carius be in a Tiger or Jagdtiger? I would assume Tiger, but if it is the fall of Berlin period then he would have moved to his Jagdtiger. If you guys haven't read it his book Tigers in the Mud is fantastic.

There's some interesting bits that can be made out on the sample pages.
Reluctant Veteran US companies. Reluctant Konigstigers.
The end of the war is quickly approaching, and everyone knows it. And no one wants to be the last casualty before the cease fire.

Awesome, found someone who wants to do the great war with me. Im sure it wont be much different to using my early war japs in a shooting fight haha.
Any idea what will be in the infantry box sets?
I purchased an infantry boxed set that had all the basic requirements to play in there, but it was far cheaper than the box sets mentioned above. Will it have more in it?

What special rules do you guys think Carius will have with his Jagdtiger? Will he retain some rules like rof 3 or setting up the shot (ignore +1 penalty shooting over 40cm and ignore concealment)?
And what do you think his rating will be, CV?

Or possibly 'despair at the uselessness of his new crews' if Tigers in the Mud is anything to go by.
He will be CV at the least, the rest of his Jagdtigers would probably be reluctant trained at best.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

As for kills, sPZJgPnzAbt 653 recorded 56 assorted vehicle kills when equipped with Jagdtigers fram Jan 1st to 31st March, but in all but one engagement they had other vehicles in support. Given the way German kill claims were assessed, some of those kills will be dual counted from other units actions.
Carius company was only in action for a month with JTs before surrendering. The crews in 512 were generally awful.
The X2 commander of 1st Comp. 512, Rondorf, had only 5 confirmed kills with the Jagdtiger by the time he surrendered at Isherhorn, and he was the units highest scorer.
There is a claim that Albert Ernst (X1 512) claimed a Sherman kill at 4km with his Jagdtiger, but we cant prove that. Ernst and his gunner were a very experienced crew, having used the Nashorn previously and been rather good at it, so the possibility is there, but really the Jagdtiger was a big waste of resource and very unreliable.
As an aside, our demo game at Bovington in 2012 was played under the barrel of a real Jagdtiger...

That is true, also by building all manner of other tank types (like King Tiger) were a waste of efforts and resources. German should have dropped 95% of all other tank models after appearence of Panther... Panther and it's subclasses should have been build and some models from PzIV (Hummel [PzIII/IV], Wirbelwind, Ostwind, Möbelwagen for a few) and transfer StuH42 from PzIII hull to PzIV hull.
But hey... it's all history, didn't happend
