As many people now know the Wood Elf book is out and there is no question that way watchers are one of the best units the book. And as many people are starting to find out way watchers are not being sold by GW (out of stock) and they're very hard to find online or being sold at ridiculous prices. Amazon has a blister pack of 3 for $53.

It is easy to see why GW's stock price plummeted, they don't seem to know what they're selling. Why would they make way watchers a great unit and then make it impossible to buy them, meanwhile they nerf dryards, treekin and treemen, and then cram then into a bundle box that no one wants? This logic is pants on head stupid.

Games Workshop doesn't care about internal balance. They just make models with accessory rules. It's doubtful they predicted Waywatchers would be this popular, so they're temporarily out of stock.

You could always just buy Glade Guard and use 3rd Market bits to make them look special. Or get miscellaneous wood elven archers from other companies. Greenstuff a face bandana if you want.

If anything, I'd be ecstatic that the unit is no longer sold. Convert your 16 Glade Guard and get more miniatures for your money.

The quick answer is, yes that is incredibly dumb. Demand planning is a basic skill for any business, you can't sell products you don't have in stock.

GW should have had tons of stock for all WE products (and IG last month) and pushed all their web exclusives into stores for at least a month or two so impulse buyers could pick them up.

Sigh...

To answer the second question, if converted/alternate paint jobs on standard wood elfs doesn't float your boat there's always Reaper.

Hooded elfs with bows ain't exactly hard to find.

They used to be the worst rare choice in the book so naturally, they are going to gangbusters this go around.

It's 3 for £10.75 in the UK and I have never seen them out of stock.

Just convert some other models? I can't see any reason to start another complaint thread about GW because they ran out of stock on a new released army?

I guess apple is going out of business everytime they run out of the new iPhones at release....
