So my friend decided he wants an apocalypse game for his birthday on Monday. We all agree, especially me. I'm an Ork player and I rarely get to unleash the entirety of my army. The group then decides they want to field their individual titans. They realize that I lack one of my own, and insist I make a Stompa, stating that it is, "Easy as hell, just shove crap all over, make it Orky!"

While I can respect making things Orky, I'm pretty sure this is a task that's a bit beyond me. I have no idea how to make a stompa, and the only real custom Ork vehicle I made were several tonka trucks I beat the tar out of, painted red, and glued various things to. However, I still would like to try. I had hoped to come here for advice.

I figured I could use this crappy Bumblebee transformer (that does not transform) toy that my wife got me as a gag as a base (it being about 12 inches tall and about five inches across, from the shoulders), and use a cut-up gatorade jug or two liter bottle for the large "skirt" that stompa's seem to have. I also have a large amount of cardstock available, as well as quite a few absurd looking G.I.Joe guns from my childhood lying around. Somehow I plan to make an acceptable Stompa with these parts. Or at least on that holds together long enough for the game, at which point I can make it look a lot better.

So, can anyone offer me some advice for this task?

For a casual once-off game, you just need a big orky vehicle (doesn't even matter whether it's a walker or is wheeled/tracked) roughly 8-9 inches in all dimensions including weapons (I just measured my official stompa).

I'm not convinced your Transformer will be especially helpful, as the feet are very small, and nearly all the body would be covered.

If I had to do it on the cheap and fast, I'd probably get a suitably sized cheap toy tank/truck for the wheels/tracks, or make some robot feet around 3-4" long out of junk in my bits box. Then add a sloping card hull 'body' on top (mimicking the stompa shape), and some sort of head on top of that (aiming for around 9" overall), and loads of weapons on the 'shoulders' - ideally a reasonable representation of its counts-as weapons (but your opponents probably won't complain if you simply have random guns everywhere and also provide a written weapons list for games purposes)

If you want something more permanent, use plasticard rather than card, and get ready for lots of rivet making.
