2 hours ago I was cutting off my Exocrine from the base to pime it and the hobby knife slipped and ended in my wrist. The cut is deep to the bone, not sure if artery was damaged but there was lot of blood and some meat out, I might have pulled it out too dynamicaly. Fun part was Exocrine stupid grin while I was bleeding all over the place.

Tendons and nerves seem ok thankfuly, I'm stitched now and wondering if you have some similar stories or I'm that special kind of idiot.

I love that particular model even more now btw.

If you're spurting blood periodically (and I do mean SPURTING) then it's an arterial cut, if it's more of a gushing or oozing it's more likely a vein or capillaries you sliced open.

Either way if it is literally "to the bone" I'd go see a doc to get it looked at and closed up.

I think it was an artery, or both artery and vein, looked really bad - my wife almost fainted when she saw that. The only way to stop the bleeding was keeping my arm as high as possible and clench my hand on the wrist to the point of getting the hand on affected arm white. I went straight to the hospital ofc and was stitched, vaccined etc, the surgeon was not very talkative though at 11.30 PM and the papers are unreadable for me, need to see my doctor to know the details. That Exocrine is a real bastard, thankful now it was not a bloodthirster I was working on. Heh cheap pun couldn't resist.

Yes it is literaly to the bone, I pushed hard expecting resistance but that one leg was only barely glued, if at all. I bought the model used and glued but not primed, hate playing with bare plastic and was very much in a hurry to get it to the game tommorow at least primed, well I won't now.

A good time for a general reminder I guess, knives can hurt you and you should cut in the opposite direction of your body.

I'd like to assume that the OP didn't try to quick-fix their own slashed wrist with some needle and thread (and some impressive dexterity).

...then punched wife, ate a neighbours dog and went to sleep. Now that would be 40k worthy behaviour though heh.

Thanks I'm happy too. The only fear is the look on my wife's face seeing me tommorow with exactly the same knife working on exactly the same Exocrine...

btw what they say about addictions and continuing despite harm to health? hmm

Jesus this one, it can get worse actualy:

bout 2 months ago i was cutting a baneblade sprue.( not the easiest thing it would seem) and my room mate thought it would be a good idea to come up behind me and scare me. as he pushed me forward and yelled ,my stanley blade( i think amerikans call it x-acto or something) pushed through the sprue. poping of the peice i was cutting and ripping down through my palm and all the way to my elbow.i looked at the neat litle red line for about 5 seconds and then it opened up . the cut was about a half inch deep. .... talk about blood for the blood god. i passed out before the ambulance got there and i spent 2 days in hospitle recovering from blood loss.i dont use a blade to get my models of the sprue anymore . there should be a photo about here which will give you an idea of how bad it was

Thanks for stories people. I think I developed a minor knife and modelling phobia the next day and have not finished the guy yet. I have a game tommorow though and maybe, just maybe I'll manage with just right hand... erm well I really want to field him.

I happen to drink while gaming and often wonder about my head failing on a unit of clanrats with spears. brrr wargaming is hardcore, maybe I'll get back to snowboarding or drugs or some other safer hobby for some time.
