Hello. Just thought I would leave a link to my Epic blog here. The game is still alive.

http://xenocidalmaniac.wordpress.com/category/epic-armageddon/

I may have some 40k and other stuff on there from time to time, but it's primarily an Epic blog.

EDIT: Most recent post as of 6/22/15 A tutorial on how to build your own Epic Necron army!

Thanks a lot! I appreciate it. I also have no idea why GW stopped their Specialist Games unit. They were a great "gateway" into the broader hobby. Oh well!

And a similar question to Desubot, what rules are used most often? Regular, NetEpic?

I use the NetEA Tournament pack from this site:http://www.net-armageddon.org/

It is all the rules of the original Epic Armageddon rulebook, but with the bonus of having all the eratta and FAQ's inserted in the correct spots. It also has a huge amount of playtested army lists, for pretty much every faction but the 'Nids.

Great blog with great armies. I loved the black legion and Necron armies.

The city board the Tyranids played on was awesome too. Hawk Wargames?

Hey, thanks a lot for the kind words. Yes, the city table is the Ruinscape from Hawk Wargames. It's designed for 10mm, but works well enough for 6mm. I quite like it and recommend it.

Really good job at supporting Epic. I need to post my own thread on here about my own Epic adventures!

I use the Hawk Wargames buildings, but I am using the papercraft ones you can download freely from their site, printing the pages at two-per-page to make them 50% scale so they are the correct 6mm scale.

I do the same thing, though at 67%. They work out quite nicely, it's great Hawk Wargames made the buildings freely available.

After reading your blog, this seems like it's the the best place to ask other than the Tactical Command forums (which seem to see low traffic), I have an Epic Armageddon question, as I plan on playing some games soon to introduce the game to friends.

During an assault, do the attacker and defender fight simultaneously (meaning the actual casualties only get removed just before the assault resolution roll), or does the attacker go first and then defender responds with what they have surviving? It obviously makes a huge difference, but the rules I am using don't make it very clear.

They fight simultaneously. There's a special rule, First Strike, that allows a unit to attack before anyone else, but other than that attacker and defender resolve their attacks at the same time.

Thanks for the info! I thought that was the case, but for some reason reading that section was making my brain short-circuit. Or course, it's not like it's a weird situation where the equivalent of close combat in any GW game going back to Rogue Trader would be the most complicated segment of that game, or anything.....

Like I said, I have pretty much been the game-salesman for anyone I am going to be playing with, and I knew that the Assault phase would be the most complicated for me to pin down rules-wise, as one of my armies is Orks, with their tendency to have a multitude of different Close Combat and Firefight values in every infantry formation.

Yeah, as tgjensen said, assault attacks happen simultaneously unless one side happens to have the First Strike special rule.

The assault phase can be complex, but once you run through it a couple times it's not too bad. One thing to keep in mind is that hits are allocated in assault exactly as they are in shooting.

A consequence of having played other GW games, I bet. It took me a couple of read-throughs to get how line of sight and cover works, too.

I started a thread containing my own madness.......using printed Vassal40K sprites as paper unit tokens instead of miniatures! I'd love some input from you guys.

If you mean the Tactical Command Forums, I will go ahead and post a similar thread there. I'm a member, and it will probably get more comments than here on Dakka.
