Every game lately my vindicare gets shot of the table on the first turn. How do you all employ him to keep him alive?

A) Stick him inside a building with a fire point.

B) Stick him inside the missile annex on a Fortress of Redemption. Not only does he get to allocate all the wounds caused by the AP 3 large blast, but the opponent can't use LoS! to shuffle them.

I take an aegis DL for the cover, and get him to man an Icarus lascannon. He's very handy using the interceptor rule and gets 3+ cover. Other than that, you could have a nearby psyker try to cast some kind of protection on him. Also, infiltrate him hidden as close to the enemy as possible if your opponent has first turn. After they've had their turn, step into sight and use his pistol on something nearby.

As he's a single model, and if you know who you're going to be shooting, you can be really picky with his position to narrow down who can see him.

He's a well known super effective glass cannon. I ram everything at him I can turn 1. if he's not behind av he's getting wasted. I wouldn't worry about it honestly. Keep him back or behind armor and just enjoy the entire round of shooting he absorbs. Thats the real point. Best taken in a list with early target problems. He forces the opponent to deal with him ASAP.

Instead of trying to keep him alive in the face of a lot of shooting, you should instead try to make him an unattractive target. Stick him in some Bolstered Area Terrain and you have a 2+ cover save. Sure, some armies can put enough wounds onto him to kill him, but that's 12 wounds at very long range they have to cause. They will likely try to aim for easier targets.
