Just trying to get an idea what Imperial Knights are like on the table.
I've had a chance to look over the codex etc, quite liked what I saw there and might pick one up. Mainly as a display thing but of course, potential to put it with my Space Wolves on the battlefield one day.
Much fun to play? Boring? Underpowered/overpowered? Worth the money?

Played with one the other weekend in a vehicle vs vehicle game. He killed 2 Viper Jetbikes in close combat and damaged a wave serpent. He managed to soak up a fair amount of fire too.

I've only used mine twice, and both times I got very differing results. In the first game, against Crons at 1500 DA(including the Knight) vs an endless horde (all troops respawned) and it racked up over 400 points in infantry kills alone, and also destroyed 1 of 2 AV14 structures needed to win the mission. The second time, against Tau and Crons at 1500 (I think) it was down by turn 3, but only because the enemy team focused on it with almost everything they had, and managed to get melta suits into the rear arc and past the shields. So, in my experience, they are not point-and-click weapons, and they will be less dangerous as the points go up and more counters are available. Certainly very fun to use, as well. I also found it became a real centrepiece for the army, giving both sides something to focus on.

They're actually pretty fun to play against. Nothing too overpowered as far as ranged weapons goes, and there's some strategy involved in flanking them with anti-tank to get off crippling shots against unshielded sections. The D-Weapons can only blow up one unit at a time with 3 attacks, and the stomps are usually ap4 so they're not murdering heavy dudes in droves. They can tear up vehicles pretty well but struggle against big blobs of fearless stuff.

They die quickly enough to concentrated anti-tank fire.
Things like Wraithknights managing to shoot an unshielded sire.. close-up melta goodness, etc..
With just 6 HP they aren't THAT buff.

I'm not a fan of them, but my army features a significant lack of high-strength ranged weaponry. I've typically used spawn on rear armor, lord with powerfist on a bike, and a maulerfiend to kill vehicles in close combat.
Knights being I4 and with a S10 hammer of wrath and the ability to stomp and just remove whatever is under the template means close combat is just....not the way to go. My fearless cultist swarm doesn't hold them up as long as I would like due to stomps. They can easily kill 7-10 cultists per round of close combat since their saves are terrible. If you plan to fearless blob them, either have a few ready or some Divination for a 4+ invul save. I've had better luck tying them up with noisemarines. Fearless, and usually they get armor saves. Just make sure while assaulting or piling in that you spread out so the stomps can only get a couple marines.

I've seen them in use a few times.
Some times they do well, other times they fall over dead. GW actually did pretty well in balancing them out. If they were MC it might be a whole different story.

I played against one of the melta ones allied with ultramarines. We had a tournament day and the um guy was sick to the gm stepped in, wasn't his army and he barely used the marines at all. The knight single handedly killed 40 cultists, a landraider, my chaos lord, a squad of bezerkers, 3 spawn, ten chaos marines, 5 raptors and a helbrute. It was awful. I was stoked to make it to turn five.

It killed 8 units in 5 turns? That's very lucky and those units must've been perfectly laid out for it.

I fielded a triple knight primary detachment at an 1500 tournament. It was fun to actually done planning your every possible move by the end of your opoonents movement phase.
Games went as much as expected, crushed an o'vesa star by simply cornering it. Lost to a flying circus (although that is a hard counter to knights so you have to expect that). A whitescar rhino spam with a biker unit was my knights final prey of the day.
All of these matches played out pretty much as exactly as one can theory craft them. Their obvious weaknesses can easily be exploited but many army lists are simply lacking them and many of the codexes as well.

I played a 2 on 1 game against an army of 6 knights. I played my Blood Angels with my friend playing his Dark Angels and we did far better than I expected. By the end of the game I still had a unit of melta assault marines, my storm raven, and my warlord with only 2 knights left alive. We still lost on objective points as we were playing the scouring and couldn't get the last hull point off the knight sitting on the 4 point objective. All in all, I really enjoyed playing against them.
