So, the Astra Militarum codex has been out for som time now, like one and a half month. Is there anyone more than me who plays the sentinels on a regular basis? I played them even in the previous codex but I must say that their cheaper cost is awesome. I actually dont have any written list at the moment that does not include six sentinels
I play a sqaudron with three autocannons and a squadron with three lascannons.

I've always liked sentinels. I don't always use them, but when I do it's usually with autocannons- the second shot helps mitigate BS3, and I try to get flank or rear shots to mitigate the AC's middling strength.

Originally got a bunch of sentinels back when I could induct into my Witch Hunters force. They all got lascannons to mitigate the low long range firepower my Sisters have. Glad to see they're viable in the new book, might have to finally finish bumping my old inducted Guard into a force in their own right...

I like sentinels ive considered buying more now that the point cost has come down. Reducing the intal cost and the weaon costs i think make them viable, but i would only consider plasma cannons, multilaser or auto cannon. Ive had too many times in the past with lascannon sentinels failed me lol.

In my opinion the sentinel has always been a good choice. Yes, the armoured sentinel with lascannon was pretty costly at 210 points for a full squadron, and now they are even better since those three sentinels cost 150. Something I noticed with them both in the earlier codex and in the new one is that they are great when you want to swamp pit something that does not have the capability to come over 12 on their armour pen.
And the long range fire support with lascannons or autocannons is wonderful.

They work well if you have other threats. They are still pretty fragile, so you have to make them less scary than, say a squad of Russes. I found they get ignored quite often. And they are now cheap enough you can throw them at something to slow them down and not think twice about it.

Does anyone field the scout sentinels? I have only played the armured one.

I occassionally field them with multi-lasers/HK missiles in my more fluffy/fun lists as escorts/charge barriers/mobile cover for my infantry/tanks and I've found the extra bit of firepower to prove on occassion when the barrier/tarpit element isn't coming into effective use.

The ages old suggestion is the heavy flamer squadron, though it relies pretty heavily on your opponent being a pillock if you outflank them.

I don't ever field the autocannon on my Sentinels ever though because their job isn't to tackle light vehicles and be naffer than naff, I use them as anti-infantry and spare mid-AT with either HK missiles or LC's.

I use them most of the time. I tend to think of them like a football offensive line, I use them to block assault units or to bait units away from the action. In cc enemy assault units will usually only be able to make one melta or grenade attack instead of their flurry of infantry shredding hits. One sentinel can tie up a massive unit of fearless termagaunts for a whole game.

I keep them cheap with flamer, multilaser, or auto cannon.

Huh, feels like I'm the only one who fields them with lascannons...
I find them very useful as hardshooting bodyguards to my tanks. Or, maybe using them as flanking units and force my opponent to choose wich threat to attack.

I have tried it but 1 shot each that only hits 50% of the time was too unreliable and too frustrating when i really needed it to work and didnt, especially at the old point cost.

Sentinels are awesome. Even with just a multilaser and camo netting, they can lay down a lot of fire, and if your opponent spends a turn attacking it with his AT weapons, then congrats, you just bought your leman russ another turn!

When in doubt, throw more men at it!
