Hello

I have started my pre heresy imperial fists and I wanted them to be defending the walls of the emperors palace.

Now the basing is the problem I have, I have an image of gravel with small chunks on the bases. Oh and flowers :p

This is be wise I imagine the emperor was abit of a feminine bloke and liked the finer things in life so in my mind he had the walls coated with marble. And the odd bloom of flowers on the bases to break up all the yellow

Does this sound alright or am I way far off ??

Probably lots of marble, granite and gold for the interior while the exterior is probably some shade of ferrocrete.

So I wasn't far off the mark then. I imagine the conversation between dorn and the big E didn't go well when he asked him to coat everything in gold and marble lol

I dunno, the big E never struck me as particularly interested in artistic pursuits. More of a cold, rational scientist who responded to big ornate structures by having them leveled and making the builders kneel in the rubble. The whole obsession with gothic cathedrals and flying buttresses and skulls everywhere really only took off after the Emperor died and the Dominion of Man caught religious fever and stopped teaching evolution in school.

As far as what the walls of the Imperial Palace look like as of 39.9999? Yeah they're probably the most ornate, blinged-out things imaginable. Just horrifically gaudy, every surface covered in precious metals and gemstones and laser lightshows in the shape of vast skulls within skulls. With the occasional mummified saint to break up all the frivolity.

I would recommend building your walls as normal, and at the final step just dunking that mofo in glitter and rhinestones.

There's a story in the Tales of Heresy Anthology. It's about the Blood Games that the Custodes participate in, so they can test for weaknesses in the security system. Don't remember much else, but there should be a depiction of the Palace while they're renovating for the big fight. Hope that helps.

Years ago, GW did a massive display of the Siege of Terra. Here is the only picture I can find for it:

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I will go for marble, I imagine the emperor loved that stuff with all his horrid interior design knowledge lol

And marble is something I've never painted and would love a try
