First post, go easy on me guys: Started 40k quite recently, love the look of imperial guard but didn't start putting a lot of money in it yet, I love the look of the sentinels and really would like to have them in a small list. Here is a small list of what I am currently thinking of.... I would like some ideas and thoughts before I go out and buy everything, here it is:

HQ: 65 points
Company Command Squad
+Vox Caster

Troops:

Platoon A: 155 points
Platoon command squad:
+Vox
Infantry squad:
+Grenade launcher
+Vox
Infantry squad:
+Grenade launcher
+Vox

Platoon B: 155 points
Platoon command squad:
+Vox
Infantry squad:
+Grenade launcher
+Vox
Infantry squad:
+Grenade launcher
+Vox

Fast Attack:
3x Sentinels, All autocannons

The idea I think is to basically have guardsmen in a line I guess drawing fire, sentinels come on from reserve and murder the few transports there will be in a small 500 point game and I have 5 points extra if I want to take melta bombs.... How can I improve this list?

IMO id take off the vox and upgrade the grenade launcers to plasmaguns or take a heavy weapon
and loos the CCS for a Lord commisar

All the box should go at this point value. That's a lot of troops for a small game you Gould fair well in attrition. You are going to need something to pop a tank. Someone might try to ruin your day with av 14 even in 500pts. A couple meltas or lascannons somewhere. Consider dropping down to vet squads with more punch.

As an AM player i'd say that your list is good but you missed some points. I like the pcs instead of the lord commissar but that's my opinion. Drop the voxes, they seem good but in the end they're a point sink. Keep the pcs naked or give them an heavy or some specials (in this case a transport would be suggested, except for sniper rifles). Flamer is often better of the gl but those combined with an heavy(autocannon) would give you a good mid-long range support. A vets squad is good 2º troop for more versatility. Sents are good but not so useful in this list. At this point level i use an armored with plasma. Wyvern are also good.

I've run this list before.

Your CCS needs to take advantage of that BS4. Give them four special weapons or a heavy weapon + 2 snipers.

Kit out your PCS with cheap special weapons (flamer, grenade launcher, sniper) and/or pair those with a mortar, heavy bolter or auto cannons.

I'd drop the voxs, too many points for such a small points battle. And only really worth it on well equipped squads.

Armored sentinels are def worth it now in low cost battles. I prefer multilasers but they're good with any weapon.

I'm with the above comments. I think the armoured sentinels can be deadly in 500pts especially in the different fast attack slots. If you drop the vox's perhaps you can slot them in if not good use of cover should do it and keep you points down so you can bring more special weapons (plasma or melta) on your bs4 ccs for deep strikers. With clever spacing on those sentinels means if AV14 turns up you can get side armour shots and may not need lascannons.
For me on the platoon squads I'd throw flamers into the mix! I'm not keen on veterans and like target saturation and attrition but can understand the sentiment. Good luck and would enjoy reading any battle reps you post with your final lists.

I agree as well with all of the above points. Drop the voxes. Move your special weapons to your CCS and PCS, and add either Autocannon or Heavy Bolter teams.

Be careful about running without some heavy AT at 500 points. AV14 could put down a lot of hurt given the circumstance. Though generally unused, a single LR could ruin your day.

Then again, you could make up for it by dropping all the voxes ( TBH, no one really uses them en masse ) and adding tonnes of autocannons. If you want, you could switch the troops over to vets + melta and give them a chimera. This would free up points to buy all the sentinels you could ever want .

IMHO, if you really like a model and don't really care much except for having fun, you could build your list around having as many of those as you can. At 500 points, a sentinel can definitely put up some real hurt given the right loadouts.

Also, at 65 points, a Wyvern is a spectacular addition. With shredding on four blast templates, it is devastating against any infantry in the game.
