Hello all. I have recently picked up the newest Vanilla codex. If I am not mistaken it seems pretty good. i have played some, but I model more. After perusing it I immediately began working on some of my extra models as Ultramarines. I want grav guns and I can roll with my DA no problem. Something I do sometimes is I roll my Deathwing with Belial and use vets for my elites, more bang for the buck.

Here is my question, what are stronger right now DA or Vanilla? I know my DA pretty well, but I am thinking of expanding my UM's as I just got some space hulk terms, so I wanted to hear from peaple who are playing more often (don't get games that much but will, just graduated from College on second time around)

Vanilla is far more competitive! I play DA, but often run them under the Vanilla dex for fun. DA provides a much more challenging army that relies much more on synergy.

How much you'll enjoy either army depends on what you're looking to get out of the game. I have massive amounts of fun with both armies, but I win far less with the Angels.

Oh so you like playing Fallen then eh? Just kidding.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I am surprised to hear of the difficulty winning with DA. I have not had too much problem rolling my Deathwing with Belial List, with Claws in each group and 5 knights...

The strongest army for you right now is going to be the one you're most comfortable with. If you're mostly just a modeller then you're probably not skilled enough to take too much advantage of the differences between these two particular armies.

Over all, regular SM has stronger builds at the moment, sure, but I guess it depends on what you're really going for here.

And DA isn't THAT difficult to win games with. At least, not all that much moreso than most SM builds.

I admit I am not an expert, but I am no slouch either.

Truth be told I won some space hulk terms and was looking for input to sway one way or another... i.e. painting. Ultimately I can roll both as allies.

Vanilla are a tad better and more flexible.

But the dark angels have some unique tricks they can pull off and vanilla cant, like divination without named guys, troop termies, rad grenade "ID prepares" etc...

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.
