Hi guys I know this is probably a longshot, but I am always amazed at the wealth of knowledge here about the history of 40k.

I have a question about the look of the Tech Guard. If anyone played Epic Space Marine, and Titan Legions in particular, these were the guys you would normally purchase as a company to place inside the Imperator titan. They also had support troops too, so I assumed people could field them too if they wanted.

Now back in the day, these guys were just the MK 1 Imperial Guard minis, but I have never seen a picture of them painted. Or any picture of them at all really. So I was wondering if anyone remembers if they had their own color scheme and look. I don't have any White Dwarfs from that era, so I don't even have a battle report to refer to. Maybe one of you does! I want to paint up some old old Imperial Guard as them.

Your help would be appreciated!

Random I know!

The Tech Guard was, and still is, identical in all ways to the Imperial Guard, and serve the exact same function. There is some confusion regarding the Skitarii, and how they fit in to the Tech Guard, but for the most part TG = IG. You can easily build a modern Tech Guard using the new Astra Militorum codex, as there really isn't any difference between the two.

As to paint schemes, the AdMech does seem to prefer reds, browns, grays, and black, with heavy use of metallics, specifically brass and gunmetal.

As to Skiterii, Scions and Bullgryns seem to be good examples, the first being vat-grown elite soldiers, and the second being vat-grown shock troops. Paint scheme are much more exotic, running from purple and blue tiger striped to animal prints to all metals.

From a player point of view, they are just Guard, the PDF of the Forge Worlds. Feel free to stack as many vehicles as you want, Imperial Knights are welcome!

The Tech Guard are the Skitarii if I remember correctly. More specifically the Ad Mech uses the Skitarii in the same way they called guardsmen Imperial Guard; it's an all encompassing term. The Tech Guard or Hyspasists are Guardsmen with minor augmentation. They would likely have a similar scheme to the titan house they're attached to or the usual Ad Mech red and black sort of look.

Praetorians would be suited to be represented by the Ogrin. But this seems to change depending on the source. They are either seen as an Obliterator equivilant or as elite Hyspasists which the Scions would be suited as bases for,
