Is it too expensive for the buff it provides. I mean it literally cost the same as a CCS. If I decide to take the leap of faith what is the best way to try and earn my points back on this guy? And how should I protect the now double point cost CCS?

While I am asking the questions. Is creed worth his points. He cost 20 more then a regular CCS and doesnt exactly bring as much as a second CCS would bring to the table. Thoughts?

I think the answer for keeping them alive is similar for both of them. I would keep the unit more or less naked with perhaps carapace and a med kit if you find them going down too fast. I would then pop them into a chimera and take a 3 void shield generator with a wall. The other answer could be an ADL but obviously that isn't as good. Another method could be to put them behind a firestorm redoubt or similar building as they do not need LoS, in a chimera they should be fairly resistant to most barrage weapons.

Now that my unit is protected the uses of the units so that this is all worthwhile is the concern. That is a lot of pts after all.

Kurov's Aquila is one of the best ways to get preferred enemy on units. The plasmacutioners benefit greatly from preferred enemy and would also greatly benefit from the wall and/or void shield to protect the units. Pretty much any anti infantry firepower will benefit from this but the plasmacutioners and plasmaguns can be kept from melting down. If you are using a lot of plasma I could see it possibly being worthwhile though that is a lot of plasma to use.

Creed gets two war lord traits so he may actually get 4 orders a turn after all. However his biggest benefit appears to be a "free" voxcaster to all units he gives orders to. I guess the best use for him is giving orders to HWTs, heavy artillery carriages, thudd guns, or sabre platforms all of which cannot take vox casters and so he brings something that 15 pts could not buy you. In fact to confer the same odds of success you would need commissars in each unit you give orders. Perhaps aLC HWT or Sabre Platform gun line could be the answer as tank hunters and ignore cover are a big deal. Also ignore cover medusa or earthshaker heavy artillery carriages could be worth something.

Try CCS with Kurovs aquilla in a chimera giving their buff to a veteran squad or two with plasma guns. It pays the points back tenfold.

I'd take him everyday if he was only 20pts more.
But you need to buy the CCS first, then upgrade to include him. He's 80pts more than a standard CCS.

I think he meant that he is 20 pts more than an additional CCS would be.

QFT!

He just seems ridiculously expensive given the 60pt tax on top of his own point cost. I love me some Creed but not sure I can field him unless I really have points to just throw away.

It's worth it to have and put in a Chimera , it's great for gun lines. Only one model needs to be within 6 inches.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Yes the aquila if taken needs to have a list build around using it. The preferred enemy would also work great for all of those vehicles that manage to miss that key to wound roll. They gave all these cool relics and then restricted it to non IC's only. So there is no real good way of protecting your investment.

You could take him in an inoffensive chimera.

Give it heavy flamers, camo netting and maybe repair gear if you're afraid of it getting kocked out.

If you're cool to give up orders from your investment, you could ALSO put them inside a firestorm redoubt. You're never going to get knocked out, put out a little bit of damage and don't need cover saves.
