Hey guys,

I was broswing some youtube clips on some water effects, this was done using a range of various products.
However, I have a specific intention in mind that id like to know whether is possible?

Basically, id like to:
  • take an LED
  • Encase it in clear plastic
  • Wash it with perhaps an oil black wash - wipe up some excess to reveal the clear plastic.
  • Use badger ghost tints to tint the clear plastic showing through the wash

  • Does this seem like a feasible idea? What I want to directly create is 'ghost' or 'phantom' looking sculptures. an example would be:

Below is a model I am working on, i am creating a ghost trail effect, mimicking that of the mortis engine. However, if I could sculpt in a clear plastic instead of GS I could put an LED in the plastic. The ghost tints or even just standard washes would serve to colourise the light from the LED. I would be aiming to get a semi-transparent sculpt that is allowing out an eerie light that blends up into a normally painted model as the washes/clear plastic is slowly made more opaque.

    Questions:
  • Is there a scultping product like GS or a glue that I can shape that would dry clear/or misty.
  • Can I pour a product into a mold such as oyumaru (a re-useable instant mold) to cast simple shapes? would PVA glue work for this?

I would make a mold of your existing miniature and then cast the whole thing from one of these products depending on your needs.

Then drill a hole in the bottom of the model to attach your LED. Washes and tints can be added to the outside of the clear model or Smooth on sells color additives to add to the resin when you pour it.
