My main force and by far my favorite is the Searforce Comission. I was at the game store when the opened the day our Colossal was released and I have never been disappointed by it.
I am thinking about picking up a second one, on my way to the Gorten +3 Colossals 50pt force, and want to something to make it different and am thinking about instead of the legs incorporating the body onto a set of tank treads. I think a model Sherman would work but I am having trouble deciding on what scale model tank I should use.
Any veteran modelers have any advice?
thanks

Sounds cool!
I'd probably look into 1/35. I had a Churchill one once that almost made it into an Ork conversion but like so many of my "plans" it never made it past the thought process!
Hopefully someone can give you a bit better advice but I'm keen to see how you get on!
Google says it comes in at 210mm. Maybe a bit long?

I would think a larger scale of a smaller tank would work best. You would get a more squat, chunky look with larger rivets and details that match the WM aesthetic better.

Look for a 1/35 scale panzer 3 or 4 I think, It's a smaller tank and the larger scale would fit better, Another option may be a 1/48 T-34 or something with the same chassis. I've played around with both of those, a 1/35 Sherman and a troll Mountain King and the panzer or T-34 chassis would fit the base but the Sherman would be too big. Personally I'd use the 1/48th T-34 because I think its wider treads would look better.

It might not work as well with some of the newer conversion rules, but have you considered using a 40K tank of some sort as the base? Maybe a Land raider or Leman Russ? I think a rhino/chimera would be too small.

Modified Battlewagon would work a treat.
Who says it has to be an IOM tank
|
The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

As long as you used a "real world" model kit you'd be fine. Nobody holds the copyright to Shermans.
PP's new ruling only really effects events where they are there and filming/photographing it and don't want other IPs causing infringement risks.

Right, I have no idea what the OP is going for that is why I tossed that caveat in there.

My first thought was to use a Rhino or a Leman Russ but I really didn't want to use something so easily identifiable in the gaming community.
I don't go to large tournaments, simply don't have the time, so there's really no risk of PP getting on my case.
