I just played a 500pt game recently against an elder. He had a spiritseer, wraithlord, and a WS forgot what was inside(is that list even legal?). He was firing his serpent shield at my FW and were not getting armor saves since it had AP 4. Does the supplement or something gives the shield ap 4? I am pretty sure the regular Eldar codex has it's profile as AP -.

Did you not ask to see in your opponents codex at the time?

I can't think of anything that alters the AP of the shield.

There is nothing that gives it AP4 so I'm sorry to say but your opponent was cheating to make an already over powered weapon to be ridiculous and stupid.

You are correct. The shield is AP - and nothing can modify that.
As for the list, Spiritseer is HQ, Wraithlord is Heavy Support, Wave Serpent is a dedicated transport. Together (assuming there are 5 Dire avengers inside that wave serpent and the wraithlord took two common weapons) that is 410 pts before any wave serpent upgrades. That leaves 60-90 points for him to have spent on another troops choice somewhere. So I would say yes, the list was probably legal.

It was meant to be a fast game because the store was closing soon. Well he did field a wraithlord and a ws on a 500pt point game so I did not bother asking. Also, I just started playing WH40k (Feb) so maybe it was an upgrade or something...oh well now I know. Thanks!

Its not unreasonable to ask to see something your not sure about.

If you have a feeling something isn't right, just ask to see.
