So im getting into warhammer fantasy after becoming rather burnt out with 40k over the last several months, and i have about 2500 points of lizardmen so far. In the games ive played, i have pretty much fallen in love with the carnosaur. The rules, the model, the fluff, everything about it gives me the same excitement i had when i first started playing tabletop games about 5years ago. I just dont know the "best" way to build him.
Note: i am fully aware that the slann is the most viable lord choice in the army book. I am not here to argue that point. However, the lack of cannons at my FLGS means that big scary monsters often run rampant, and seeing that if i want to be competitive i just go play 40k, keep in mind im not nearly as cut throat in fantasy.
The two builds i have in mind are as follows
-Saurus Oldblood
Sword of Bloodshed
5+ ward talisman
Charmed Shield
Light Armor
Carnosaur with Loping Stride
Or
-Saurus Oldblood 2
Pirhana Blade
4+ ward talisman
Charmed Shield
Light armor
Carnosaur with Loping stride
The first is more balanced vs both multi wound models and basic infantry. Between 8 attacks with predatory fighter (which usually comes out to 9 or 10 attacks total) and thunderstomp, rankand file troops that would normally win via rank bonuses get cut down in droves. Vs characters and monsters, the carnosaur steps in with its 5 d3 wounding attacks.
The second choice is more durable, lacks the ability to take on large numbers of troops, but has10+ attacks that all deal d3 wounds, making it a brutal monster and character killer.
So what are your thoughts? Which build is better? Or do you have your own personal favorite?
