Getting ready for a tournament at the end of the month:

* 1850 Points
* Escalation units allowed up to 550 Points

I run space wolves and in making my list I am trying to decide if bringing a Baneblade from the escalation book is worth it.

BS: 3
Armor: 14
HP: 9

Autocannon
Demolisher Cannon
Twin Linked Heavy Bolter
Baneblade Cannon: 72 " S: 9 AP: 2.
Primary Weapon 1, Apocalyptic Blast.

This would leave me with 1325 for the rest of my army and is a huge investment so just wondering opinions on it's worth in a such a low point game. Or stick in few extra thunder wolf and maybe canis.

Well, in a low point game Supers are even more dominating, because there will be fewer answers available. One downside is you kinda have to modify the rest of your army to support the super heavy. So SW might not play in the normal way, if they are acting as bubble wrap.

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

Honestly, if it's a tournament where Escalation is allowed, you're going to see Shadowswords everywhere for the D-weapon. So, whether or not you take one of your own, be ready to face them.

If that's the tourney I'm thinking of, then I'll be the other wolf player there.

I've already heard about a couple of IKs and a Necron Tessaract Vault coming.

Weigh the options. can you take other supers out with out a baneblade (or variant)? Would the baneblade add enough killy compared to comparable points in wolf models?

In ur base, killin ur d00dz

I commented in the last one and I'll say it again here. For the points that the Baneblade is going to cost plus ten points, you could have nineteen ML Long Fangs (Three squads of five, one of four, all with sergeants). I'm assuming this is following standard FOC so you can only take three of those squads. That's fine, then give each squad a Razorback with TL Lascannons. That's 655 points of 15 ML and 3 LC vs one Baneblade.

When you sit down to your game what do you think your opponent will focus on first? It's going to be the giant hulking tank that has to move to be in line of sight and can only shoot so many things at once.

Preferably I'd rather have the three squads behind cover scattered across the board, not to mention the three vehicles zooming around and getting in your opponent's way.
