Having only just discovered FOW I'm looking to put together a British force. I've ordered some Shermans and Churchills from PSC and will be ordering some Infantry fairly soon. I would like to add Artillery to my collection as I'm a big fan of artillery in general and would like to build and paint some. PSC don't have any offerings when it comes to British Artillery and I find the FOW models look quite poor in comparison. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Forged In Battle British Artillery? I'm struggling to find any pictures of it built but unpainted for example and I wondered what the quality of the kit was like.

If you can afford it the BF Arty,is pretty good.Since you get Command,Staff team plenty of bases also.Wehere as with the FIB set you will need to supply them.i have bought around 40 guns overall for my armies.another good maker of Guns is Command Decision (skytrek) QRF and if you want resin GAming models are a good deal for 5 bucks apiece.

I've actually just purchased 2 Skytrex 17 Pounders online, they don't come with crew or bases I'll buy them separately but the guns themselves do look cleaner and crisper than those of FOW. Are there any other companies that do good AT British crew that are sold separately?

I would look at buying some Peter Pig Crew.I did this same thing recrewing Guns and weapons teams for my FJs.also watch ebay and put up want add on BArtertown and WWpd,you would be surprised what other players have leftover and will let go really cheap.
Used my fj crew on my BF open fire Pak guns and my favoite was using them with my PSC 12cm Mortars from the German weapons set.
If interested i have some piks posted on my Blog of them.THeir is link in my sig.

Also if you can order PP from Brookhurst Hobbies if you are in the States.

Thanks I ordered some Anti-Tank crew from Peter Pig they seem pretty good. I can find a photo of the 5.5 inch guns from Quality Castings and they seem very good but for anything else in their British Artillery range there are no photo's.

Little off topic, but since we're talking about artillery.

Are tractors/trucks worth it for towing? They double the distance for medium/heavy guns and only gain you 2" for light.

Is it worth the points to get transports for them or just immobile guns?

17pdrs are for Divisonal AT not artillery, you need 25pdrs for artillery. You didn't waste your money though, 17pdrs are golden.

I think 17pdrs are a huge waste of points personally. Too static to be useful, easily shut down by smoke/movement. And easily destroyed by well placed recce + shooting

I actually have four 17 Pounders now I mainly got them because I like the models and wanted something different to paint. I was also thinking of getting some M5 Halftracks to tow them in game. So far I have:

10 Sherman
4 Firefly
3 Churchill
4 17 Pounder Gun
3 Rifle Platoons

Is there anything else worth picking up for the British?

I'm waiting until PSC bring out Universal Carriers apparently they are planning on doing them soon. I was thinking of picking up some Stuarts already so I will probably make them my next purchase.

if you have infantry, definitely. Medium AT guns are usually worth having if you are going to be defending objectives.

PSc stuarts are nice models,One of my favorite kits by PSC.I got them and carriers to use for my Guards armor. The carriers got expensive though i then went and purchased 3 Sods so icould have Piats mounted on them.Even though i was told that this was incorrect. They just looked cool with them mounted.Take a look at my blg to check out my armor their is a link in my sig to it.

Thanks.
i do not know if this is legal using the rules,But i use my stuarts to pull my At guns that are attached to the column.I think it would be legit considering they both get a recon move.

Very true, or you can buy the Special Order Battlefront artillery crew pack to go with guns from other manufacturer. You'll still need to get bases but it can work out cheaper, especially if you sell off the spare crew on Ebay.

I made my German LeFH105 guns this way with scratch built (plasticard) bases for the Command Decision guns.
