With 7th upon us and the possibility of the removal of Tau as allies to Codex: Space Marines, I have decided to venture out and try a few new things with my Codex: Space Marines. In this case, adding some Inquisition to my forces. After all, some heresy may or may not have occurred, and it's time to redeem my Ultrasmurfs for daring to ally with the blue menace.

Space Marine Detachment:

HQ:

Chapter Master - Shield Eternal, Power Fist, Melta Bombs, Bike, Artificer Armor

Tigurius

Troops:

Bikes - 5men, 2x Meltagun

Bikes - 5men, 2x Meltagun

Bikes - 5men, 2x Meltagun

Heavy Support:

Devastator Centurions - 4 Centurions armed with Grav Cannons + Amps and Chest Missile Launchers, Omniscope

Thunderfire Cannon

Inquisition Detachment:

Inquisitor Coteaz

Ordo Xenos Inquisitor - Liber Heresius, 3x Servo Skulls, Force Sword, Bolt Pistol, Power Armour, Rad Grenades, Ulumeanthi Plasma Syphon, Psychotroke Grenades, Psyker

-1497pts

Now, That's a lot of points going into the Gravstar. Between the three Psykers, I'll ideally get all of the powers I need.

Some other options I thought of instead of the Ordo Xenos Inquisitor:

Vindicator w/ Dozer Blade

Stormtalon w/ Skyhammer Launcher and Auspex on the Chapter Master

Another Grav Centurion and then finding a place to spend fourty points.

Devastators w/ Missile Launchers or Plasma Cannons

A Rifleman Dread

If you take an allied detachment, doesn't it require a core choice from their codex?

Maybe I missed it

The only required pick from an Inquisitorial Detachment is an Inquisitor. You can have up to one more Inquisitor and three Elite choices. The codex is made up of HQ choices and Elites in it's entirety. (And dedicated Transports, of course.)

So what is the plan for the inquisitors? They can't keep up with the bikes and the rest of your army is a gravstar with no real need of extra help.

I would either drop coteaz a centurion and all the cml to add a dev squad or something similar that a cheap inquisitor can give divination to or give your sgt cent a TL LC and CML with the omniscope and the rest ditch the cml.

The extra inquisitors are there for extra buffs (such as Scouts for the Grav Star) as well as ensuring I get the powers I desire from the Divination tree. If rolls go well, Tigurius will turn his attentions to the Telekinesis table to attempt to get the Gate of Infinity psychic power.

I was thinking of ditching the Ordo Xenos inquisitor for Missile Launcher Devs to add some throw weight to my back line. However, Missile Launchers are on the meh side of things for the points they cost in the current Codex, and Lascannon Devs are a tad to expensive. Plasma Cannons might not be an awful choice, giving the army some more Anti 2+ saves...

However, the Inquisitor does grant Servo Skulls and the Liber Heresius for the Grav Star, which is pretty swell. The plasma syphon will be situational, but there are plenty of marine armies in my area! (however, I guess part of that is mitigated by Coteaz obliterating anyone who deepstrikes within 12", or, at least giving the Centurions the ability to do so.)
