I'm trying to figure out of these areas around the knee pad are mouldline/flaws or part of the mould. To me they seem like imperfections that have to be filed down and cleaned up, but just wasn't sure. So what's the verdict in the pics below?

It's just part of the armor.

Alrighty then, just going to have to work with them. They just seemed kind of out of place to my eye, never noticed them before on other Assault units I've seen.

It is just a greeble... They are on just about every kind of power armor if you take a closer look.

Take them off if you don't like them.
It would help on the first picture as you would then be able to get behind the knee pad to shape it a little cleaner.
It's entirely up to you (I get a bit anal about these sorts of things!)
Some of the Chaos SM feet are hideous due, I think, to poor original moulds).

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!! |

I did notice that the overall quality of this kit is a bit off compared to the Tactical kit I just completed. The Tactical kit was very clean in comparison, likely newer moulds I guess.

They once had more detail on those bits.
They used to show as cabling (complete with the striations that a guitar string would have, for example).
If you don't like them, remove them. Exterior cabling is simply a redundancy system (as the "modern" stuff has it all under the armour anyway).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
