Subject: Slaaneshi Skyshield with Cypher and Flying Friends

Devastating Dark Reaper

Alright, so I've been thinking about using Cypher and a forward skyshield for a while now. The advantage is that in addition to a 4++ from the shield, Cypher's shrouding grants a 2+ cover save to anyone he brings along up there. While this would be even less fair if there were units with a mark of Tzeentch which I felt would really dominate the board center atop a shield..suggestions welcome.. I think that Noise Marines are an excellent option. Coupled with Daemon Princes to throw Symphony of Pain two times and a Lord of Change for Prescience and Grimoire buffing to really allow my dubstep playing cocaine users the ability to kill masses of infantry, heavy infantry and monstrous creatures with ease. Tactically, a 2+ save, with a 4++ backup, with a 5+ feel no pain is something which is not removed as easily as the opponent would care for making them highly resilient to all, but the worst shooting, hence the only weakness the pad suffers from is assault. Fortunately, The two Daemon Princes excel at preventing assault elements from reaching my marines and with initiative 5 the noise marines will most likely strike first anyway and will have Cypher to help them. As far as scoring is concerned, everything is really fragile. The cultists and daemon units will stay in reserves and will immediately hide upon entering the table: daemons to take midfield and cultists backfield with Daemon Princes eliminating major threats to them as fast as possible. The single unit of Tzeentch Marines will ride up in their rhino and hop on top of the pad for a 3++ as fast as possible, then hop off late game and grab an objective.
This list has never been tested by me, and I'm open to many forms of suggestions ranging as far as overpowered skyshield combos in general. Thanks in advance.
The List:
Dataslate: Cypher Lord of the Fallen
{WL} Daemon Prince of Slaanesh/ML3/Wings/Burning Brand
Daemon Prince of Slaanesh/ML3/Wings
Lord of Change/Exalted Reward
15x Noise Marines/Blasters/Icon of Excess
7x Chaos Marines of Tzeentch/Meltabombs/Chaos Rhino
10x Cultists
10x Cultists
10x Daemonettes
10x Horrors
Skyshield Landing Pad
My only regrets are having to shave off blastmasters and armor for my princes.. It's also clear to see I designed the list around power and added troops at the end, but with a little luck things might work out. What are your thoughts friends: Glory to Chaos, or a bunch of pretty boys standing on an elevated nail salon?

Cool list but i think it is still debated whether mark of tzeentch increases to a 3+ on a skyshield (im for it but some opponents may disagree).

MoT says "gives +1 to inv save" so I think it does.
As for the list, not sure how long the princes will live if they don't get to the pad.
Also you know the noise marines only have range 24" without blast masters?

I think it does too... But out of respect for people who disagree, I wouldn't build a list around exploiting that benefit.

At my local store we have agreed that since the wording for modification is the same as stealth or shrouded, that the effect is the same also.
24" range is mitigated by the fact that the skyshield will be dead center on the table, so if you want to be anywhere but the back corners of your deployment zone you will have to come to me.
As to the FMCs, I hope to swoop them up to the pad and either hide them behind the legs or perch on top for the save then glide out and try to stay in combat the entire game. Or for as many rounds as I can keep the symphony of pain going.
The goal is to cause such an uproar in the opponents deployment zone that they never have a golden opportunity to break from it while my cheap troops sneak away the win.
Honestly this is a big break from my raven guard who play very subtly and strategically. This list is designed for CHAOS! and is for fun, but I like my lists to be optimized with a killer edge and I'm inexperienced with this tactic.

Just add screamers and the new telepathy powers and it gets on quite nicely I must say.

You have to place the Skyshield in your own deployment zone now. It is a very big change in 7th edition. Automatically Appended Next Post: You have to place the Skyshield in your own deployment zone now. It is a very big change in 7th edition.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |
