Just a simple question, is it possible to customize a character in lotr or do you have to use the canned stats?

That would be up to whomever you are playing.

Me? I would allow it, as long as I got the chance to create a character as well.

You could use the battle companies points costing to get his cost and even use some of the abilities out of it.

I've normally reskinned the existing characters to fit whatever theme I'm working on at that moment, but the battle companies thing is a good idea. Might have to look into that!

All Depends, I have played in a tournament, where i brought all female Dwarfs, they where all painted in girl colors, even put little bows in the beards and hair, Each one had a name and i even wrote a back story for Them, Heroes where Hannalin Thunderfoot, (Used Balin's Stats and points,) Madaline Drunkin beard. Used one of the two axed Gimili's (Gimli's stats and points), and cut of one axe, and gave her a big bear mug. Just explained to all the people i played, Everyone got a big kick out of it.

I am not sure about running a reskined with the orginal, to say put two gimili on the table, seams kinda wrong to me. Unique characters are that way for a reason. But the battle companies builder is a really good option. Just check ahead of time, or brign a backup plan.

Battle companies is a good place to start Lotr, It requires less models than a full game and you can get more engrossed in the story too.

sure you can. its nothing that violates trademarks or anything like that right?
