Sorry for what is probably an easy question. I can not afford to keep up with buying all the new supplements and was wondering if the stronghold assault book changed how Skyshileds interacted with barrage weapons? If you have a unit underneath the pad can they be targeted?

There was no change within the Stronghold Assault book, to my knowledge, which fixes this problem.

As for targeting Units below the shield, there was a debate on this topic only a few months ago and it did not end in a consensus. Rule as Written allows all models under the blast marker to generate Hits, and no Exception stating that models under the shield are somehow immune to this process, but there would be no debate if it was as clear cut as that. Naturally, there where questions asking if the Blast Marker can ever generate Hits if there is some piece of terrain between the marker and the Model.

I am expecting to see that debate reopened here, but don't have any hope of either side convincing the other they are correct.

Instead of opening I will simply state:

Hey everyone, Wait til Saturday to even think about debating this.

It might be covered in the new rules.

I won't hold my breath at that....

Well I just thought of a funny scenario (probably covered somewhere in the BRB already but too lazy to look for it). If a barrage weapon hits all models under the blast marker do they hit the units inside of a transport or buildings? Technically they are also under the marker.

Also, doesn't it say to look directly above the blast marker in regards of cover save? So if you can't see the models (underneath the skyshield) do they get a 100% cover or something. So they can get hit and wounded but saves them automatically? Long day at work haha But ya hopefully they will cover it in the new edition.

Incorrect,
When a Unit embarks into another it is moved off the playing field entirely, they can not be physically under the Marker unless the Model is under the Marker.

Oh so models off the playing field entirely can still shoot? (Fire points or w/e)

P.S. Not trying to be sarcastic or anything. New to the game and I do not know a lot of the rules yet.

That is correct, the models that have been removed from the table because theya re embarked can still make shooting attacks through the Fire Point rules, because the Fire Point rules specifically allow it.

Only if there is a special rules allowing it (such as Fire Points).

One of the largest restrictions when it comes to Embarked Units, and Reserves, is the fact the models do not physically exist on the table. This renders it impossible to measure to the Model itself, particularly for Line of Sight purposes, so there needs to be additional Rules informing us how to do X and Y in situations involving them. Those additional Rules have their own clauses and Restrictions that ensure they are evoked only in specific situations.

For example:
Fire Points can be used for Line of Sight requirements, but only for Shooting and Shooting related Attacks.

"I can't afford to buy the rules" is not a valid reason to try and use Dakka as a replacement of the rules. Please don't do this ever again.
