Does a (large) blast attack generate 1 hit against a void shield or a number of hits equal to the models under the template?

Check out the multi-page thread on this subject here:

That's a lot to go through. Thanks for the link, my search-fu on this site is weak.

RAW it is one hit per model underneath the blast, as per the rules for generating hits with blast weapons. There is no rules based argument for any alternative method, just appeals to "real world" logic

There is a rules based argument, it is in the thread.

OP read the thread and decide with your group how you are going to play it.

True. Of course, there's also no rules based argument for Flying Monstrous Creatures getting the Relentless or Smash rules. There also isn't any rules based argument for determining when the Sanguine Sword ends. RAW it lasts forever.

RAI in this case is a little less clear than in those two, but I still think it's pretty clear that it's only intended to generate one hit against the shield. Still, there's enough wiggle room for argument. (About a dozen pages of it, in fact, and about a dozen more threads just like it!)

But, for once I agree with DeathReaper. Read the larger thread. Discuss with your group.

So youre using real world logic to justify it? No other "RAI" argument was put forth.

Can we just wait a few days to see if it has changed at all in 7th edition?

Seems like the best bet instead of doing this yet again.

Oh it will be interesting to see if anything has changed, however without a rewrite of the Blast rules - or simply an exception made for blast weapons (40k, land of exceptions to the rule) - this is unlikely to change.

Not necessarily. Apparently all the stronghold assault stuff is now in the rulebook, so that's a fresh chance for them to to potentially change things.
