I say this encompassing both the new table, and the fact that we are no longer allowed usage of BRB powers...

If we are allowed to choose and roll what powers we want, Flyrants + Tervigons all attempting to cast Iron Arm each turn.... with a bunch of cheap dice provided by 50 pt spammable Zoanthropes... multiple Biomancy casts on the Flyrants... I'm not sure that it would be stunningly OP (although I suspect it might, and I imagine GW might have suspected the same if they balanced this with 7th in mind), but it would definitely be a top tier army and extremely hard to deal with. And being that GW has (unofficially) said that Tau & Eldar are mistakes in power levels and they want to er on the side of caution, do you think this balancing is possible?

Especially since now the Tyranid table that originally didn't know what it wanted to be, is massively versatile and likely to be one of the better tables in the game.

Thoughts?

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

Given that Daemons can still use Biomancy AND Divinitation and I'm hearing rumors that you can get powers on other tables if you want even if you are a Tyranid, I'd say no.

Not to mention that the Astra Militarum and a properly run Daemon list is right up there with Taudar so I'd say they've learned nothing balancewise.

Many things are possible, the question is if they're probable, and even then, do they matter.

Is it possible that Tyranids Psykers were balanced with 7th in mind? Yes.

Was it probable? Maybe.

Does it make any difference? As far as we can tell, no.

As Kain says, what balance?

Warzone Valedor has pleased me tremendously (Tyranids are still abysmal in apocalypse whenever Superheavies get involved though thanks to our Lords of War being terrible and the tremendous imbalance in how Gargantuan Creatures and Superheavy Vehicles take D-weapon hits) and I'm personally hoping for a Warzone Octarius sooner than later (more Xenos vs Xenos conflict in the fluff is always welcome, and it'd give us an ork viewpoint novel) or perhaps a Forgeworld book on the Octarius War, and am hopeful for the IA4 update even if the rumors say it's more about the Red Scorpions than the Tyranids.

But I can't help but feel that GW released such a bad book so that we'd have to pay microtransactions for all the add ons needed to make it a good Tyranid book, knowing full well that after two lame duck codexes in a row Tyranid players would be desperate for any scraps thrown at them by GW and FW.

You first mistake was assuming the design team understands what balance even is.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

I don't know whether I'd be happy or upset if the 7e BRB let us have rule book psychic disciplines again.

Happy because I'd have them back, return to me Swarmlordzilla!

Upset because I suffered through four months of non-homebrew/houseruled games of being constrained to a single table while everyone else had psychic options flying out the arse for nothing.

I don't think so..

I think the decision was made from a fluff perspective rather than any specific design for 7th edition. Will of the hive mind magic is a different beast from warp infused power.

As far as balance goes.. early days but the battle brother changes, ability to dispel psychic powers, late game contesting of objectives is basically gone etc.. seem like they might bring balance back to the force?

If that's the explanation, I'd have at least given the Tyranids multiple tables like the Eldar or Chaos since this is supposed to be one of the most variable and adaptable armies in the setting.

The pre release stuff has already made a point to bone Nids. So I doubt it.

But rumors say you can bring friends now. They just have to be 12" away!

Mind helping out with the tgbrew fandex on 1d4chan? We could always use help and more voices.
