Title pretty much says it all, the armour of my new marine force is going to be bright orange but i don't know what colours would look well with it, any ideas?

Blue. Orange is the opposite of blue on the colour scale, and thus their contrast is complimentary. Got a jaffa cake box? See what i mean? Oranges in the shops will have blue labels, and tv sdverts with blue cars for example will use subtle orange shading, maybe reflections in the mirror/windows. Its science haha

Blue it is then would a bright orange be better complimented by a bright blue or a darker one?

There is more to complimentary colours than just being opposite on the colour wheel. Blue goes well with any hot colour yellow/orange/red, but red and green (opposites) are a bit intense. A lot can also depend on the proportions. If you have a much larger area of one colour the contrast becomes more important. I personally think a purple colour would work best.
