Because it's not like anyone ever comes to similar conclusions on their own and the entire 40k community is just one big hivemind.

Poorly stated...I wasn't trying to imply that everyone out there just copies netlists, only that all I've seen at my flgs for a good while now is hat amounts to netlists.

Sorry, I should have stated that a little less offensively.

It seems like Netlists are born when after a few games of being tabled, you look up some tactica on boards like this one, get the advise on which units work and which don't, and BAM....

I'm going to enjoy knowing as much about the rules as everyone else. Not really played any 6th games so I'll probably end up pulling people up for doing stuff that's changed.

It's perfectly possible to deconstruct 40k. People are already doing it right now, working with semi-confirmed rumors. The math is already being done, so it's possible what you're hoping for might not even exist.

In your context, of course. As blacksails mentioned, what you're talking about isn't true to the maximum extent everywhere.

You joined 2 days ago and you are already like this? God-Emperor above, what's DakkaDakka doing to you people?!

It will be fun to see where the mathhammer will head next now that the new Alliance thing removed some... popular choices, let us say.

I too love the period of learning. Learning is always more fun than knowing. Thats why I never do tutorials, im always just trying to figure it out on my own.

But its awfully tempting to peak at the progress of others.

I too am looking forward to having to learn the changes and figure things out as I go. Once I know the rules I get bored. It gets worse when i know how to make crazy combos too. Always avoid searching for tactics is my advice OP.

When someone finally 'breaks the seal' and buys a box of deamons for their non-Chaos army to summon. Of course, what I'm REALLY looking forward to is the cascade that follows, resulting in the entire Daemons shelf being cleared out for weeks.

I have a Daemon Prince in a box.

But alas...I play Necrons, and my 2nd Army is Tyranids.

Could it be possible that there is an attributable level of dissatisfaction building in the overall 40k community, coming from an outside source and not necessarily some inherent corruption force existing on Dakka?

Graar, you're no fun.

The period I'll enjoy most in 7th is.... can't think. What? I guess going to my FLGS and spectating a match or two, seeing all the crazy gak people do to each other.

The only thing that would make me play 7th is if GW started paying me. And now that 6th edition is outdated I have an excuse to go back to my real happy roots. Time to rerereread those wonderful 2nd ed. books and play some golden age wargaming.

When I'll actually get to play it. I'm just sick and tired of all the Bing about this new edition when it hasn't been actually released yet. Can't you gitz keep this bull-gak to yourself until the new edition is actually in your hands and you can read it for yourselves?

I totally agree. It's hard to talk about anything other than 7th here anymore, it seems like every other thread is about the new edition in some way, shape or form.

Edit: Just want to say this, I went back to the main page of 40k General after posting this, and 9 out of the 12 threads I could see without scrolling down were about 7th Edition (maybe 10, if you count the one asking about who's going to buy the Munitorum Edition). Come on, guys, the rules don't even come out for another few days. Yeesh.

Nice one! I was thinking my favorite period of 7th will be spending my money elsewhere - at least that is the way it looks so far from the bits that have come out.

You're moaning and complaining right there!!

I'm sorry, but moaning and complaining about others doing it doesn't change anyone's minds, you're better off ignoring it, reporting it if it's derogatory, and going on your day. But complaining back at it doesn't give you a free pass, just like I don't get a free pass to complain back at you.

Let's just be less attacking of each other and respect the fact that a lot of people like this coming edition, and a lot of others dont.

Yeah, my favorite part about 7th edition will be when people stop posting 7th edition threads based on nothing but rumors treated as sacrosanct fact.

Unfortunately, that might persist for awhile. Some people have gotten rumors so ingrained in they're heads, that they will still keep on going with them even once they wind up being wrong. It's bad enough to have people talking about rules from the new edition while misquoting rules from the old one. It will be annoying to have to sift through that and rumors as well.

The game is complicated enough without residual false hope confusing things.

Ok ok, you want the math hammer, it's real easy this time. Take the most cost effective vehicle in your army or unit if you don't have a good vehicle. Now take the point limit your playing at and divide that by the cost of the unit and bam done. For instance I play necrons, the most cost effective unit is the annihilation barge, at 2000pts I can cram 22 in there. Boom 22 tesla destructors can deal with anything except av14 so add 22 underslung gauss cannons to them bam dealt with the av14 threat. This list for example being all av13 denies plenty if not all anti infantry shooting your opponent may have and all small arms fire, being a skimmer you'll be getting your 4+ cover saves. So unless the other army has a ton of anti vehicle they are done, whereas you don't have to worry about that since your cost effective tank can deal with any threat it's only balancing feature previously being that their were only 3 heavy support slots. And now it can score to boot.

Plenty of books have already been distributed early, kirby's got one and he's posted most of the differences from 6th on his blog, check out his blog at http://www.3plusplus.net/ to take a look if your interested.
