Forgive me if this is the wrong area for a combo of 40k and Fantasy questions as I did not see a separate forum

I have recently moved to Toronto from New Zealand and after selling all my models back home I have decided to start fresh with a Tau and Bretonnia army for 40k and WFB respectably. Normally I do not paint because of a motorcycle accident leaving me colour blind (Red, Green, Yellow all appear as Yellow) but without any close friends to paint for me I have decided to push ahead and overcome my limitations with a select colour panel to paint with.

Both armies are to be painted with the same colours obviously changing in style between the advanced armor of the Tau and the Medieval look of the Bretonnia forces. I plan to use the colours used in a game called Kingdom Under Fire Heroes (Best strategy game on a console!) if you are unfamiliar here is a link to their colour scheme http://www.kufheroes.com/ENG/characters/unit_human.asp

A bit bland and generic I know but at least I can personally see the colours I also plan to mix it up a bit maybe with some purple to denote rank and using the brown on peasants and pathfinders to give the army a bit of pop you could say.

So I am here to ask the forums about how you would go about painting the metallic armour and how you would paint the cloth as to give that regal blue or purple colouring. I do also understand that Bretonnia is meant to be painted in a different way but personally I do not mind as I can not see 75% of the colours people paint with.
