Hey all,

Looking at trying to attend that 2000pt fantasy tournament at the end of august. Just recently gotten into fantasy (only have about 5-6 1200pt games under my belt).

Was just jotting up a list too see what would need building etc, what are our thoughts on this:

So 2000pts

Vamp Lord w/
Heavy Armour
Ogre Blade
Talisman of Pres
Other Trickters Shard
Quick Blood
Redfury
Shield
Lvl 3 (just for invos)

Heroes
Cairn Wraith
Cairn Wraith
Necro w/
Book of Arkhan
Iron Curse Icon

Core
5x Wolves
5x Wolves
5x Wolves
39 x Skeletons w/
FC, Banner of swiftness

20x Zombies w/
Muso, Standard
20x Zombies w/
Muso, Standard

Special
3x Vargs
3x Vargs

Rare
4x Blood Knights
Muso, Standard
Flag of Blood Keep

Varghulf

Leaves me with 60pts spare, would love to try and get another necro in there somewhere, or I could drop the wraiths and get a quasi decent baby vamp...

Model painting/building would be:
Lord
2x Wraiths
5x Wolves
3 Skeletons
6 + say 40-50 zombies (for invo)
3 Varghiests
1 Varghulf

My local meta isn't quite a dairy yet, thus why I'm refraining running TGs, and the fact that I honestly don't love the model, don't think it is themey for my army and seems a little crutchie.

Thus why I'm having a crack at running as much vampiric stuff as possible.

Basic battle plan is pretty simple, charge the skele block goes up the guts, swell the zombies on the way, wolfies act as diverters and chaff.

The 4 lots of vampiric units, which are all pretty fasty, either all run up one flank, or trundle up either side, the plan is a little bit of target saturation, would probably keep them out of shooting range until the skele block and zombie-pits are up in the enemies face.

What are our thoughts, or ideas on shimmying stuff around?

Thanks in advance,

U.K.

I have the same issue getting c&c out of dakka sometimes. From what I know about vampires their best stuff is in the characters and special.

First off keep your core as close to minimum as possible. Or core choices suck at combat so it's not wise to stick loads of points in here.
Second get as many Vampires and Necromancers as you can with lore of vampires. Means more chances to channel and plenty of raising dead. Also if the vamp lord kicks it your army won't crumble as badly with backup users.

Vargs from what I see are glass cannons. Great on the charge but the rest of the time they suck. Maybe go crypt horrors for the poison attacks and regeneration. They also are cheaper too.

I assume the blood knights are 1x unit of 4 models? If so drop this and think more towards black knights or Hexwraiths. Get a vamp on a steed and stick him with a unit of black knights and watch the mess happen.

Hex wraiths are good because they can only be hurt by magical weapons. And have great weapons and are fast cavalry so perfect for flanking mundane infantry or warmachine.

For an extra point your lord can have Enchanted shield giving him +2 save instead of 4 points for a +1.

That enough comments for now?

DIE already so I can bring you back to life with my necromancer and beat your mates up!
